My Toyota Tacoma is starting to show oxidation spots on the roof.

I took it to a detailing biz and he said the only thing to do is repaint the roof.

What would you guys consider to be an acceptable, decent price to have this done?

My truck has super low miles and everything on the interior and exterior is great accept those spots.

I dont plan on getting rid of it anytime soon, but it kills me to see that roof.

    Any info is appreciated.

...quality paint is expensive but sounds like you have a small piece to work on. i wouldnt be surprised if you got 3, to 500 dollar bids.

Some of that Toyota paint has metal flake in it and they may have to blend it in on the sides to match it. Id say 600 to 1000

Im less concerned with the blending as the front of the room leads in the sides of the wind shield.

    But those damn spots! Ugh.

Oxidation spots on Japanese vehicles = rust = cancer. I saw a few of those on my '08 Toyota Highlander. I quickly sanded them down to the metal and generously slathered on a new layer of primer and matching paint. Not a great job but it stopped the cancer from spreading.

You get what you pay for. Live near Mexico, by any chance? My father liked to drive down there to get auto work done. The quality was passable. It was something of an adventure. Bone up on the yelp.com reviews for places near you -- I had to have the front "bumper clip" component on my sedan replaced and the local place I took it to did a great job, looks better than new, but it ran me about a thousand bucks.

Its on the drivers side, which is the same side some asshole on a crotch rocket doing 50 up a short hill as i was making a left hand turned t-bones me and went thru my drivers window and head butted me unconcious with his helmet.

I blacked out, rand over that fucker, broke his pelvis and leg before ending up in someone's yard and knocking over
and lamp in their round brick flower garden.

10 hours at a trauma center. I got 3 stitches to the face and a $29,000 dollar medical bill.

Plus the insurance companies said i was 70 percent to blame cuz i turned in front of him.

Truth is, i turned first. It was clear. I was doing 6 mph MAX.
He came around that corner doing 50 mph and covered that short 35 yards in no time.
Never saw the guy. He hit me!

Anyway, they replaced the doors and im sure they did some roof work cuz it was buckled
which means they probably painted it.

Sorry for the long drawn out story.

I bought my Toyota at Longo in El Monte.

I traded in my 6 yr old Chevy S10 with 76,000 miles on it and they gave me $7000 in trade!

My toyota just turned over to 42,000 miles last week.
