A California man was arrested Wednesday after a Nassau County police officer posing as a UPS driver delivered a 25-pound box of marijuana to a house in Elmont -- and he retrieved it from the front steps.
Police said David Banks, 47, of 1109 Fairview Blvd., Inglewood, Calif., was arrested at the home on Lehrer Avenue at 4:45 p.m. He was charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana and faces arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Police said the United Parcel Service had "intercepted" the marijuana shipment and said undercover officers, including a K-9 team, then staked out the delivery location while another officer, posing as a UPS driver, delivered the package.

Sounds like it happened in NY. Dude was probably visiting and shipped his pot to avoid detection by TSA.

I was just in California,,,toured Venice beach (what a shithole). They have storefront clinics with people outside hawking for you to come in to see the dr. For your prescription. Seriously, the "doctor" is right there...sees you for ten minutes and your good to go to the next room to make your buy.

Usually ups tips the cops off... Usually the person has it delivered to a neighbors house, not his own, and watches for the truck. K9 dogs routinely train at ups centers. I forget if it's ups or FedEx but one won't allow their uniforms to be loaned for sting operations.

...the police have better things to do, this is a waste of money, not the pensions belonging to people who have already served their community. theyre trying to grease the wheel of justice with fines and court costs and probation programs/prisons/jails off of innocent laid back weed consumers. fucking straw man witch hunt.

25 pounds of Cali bud is about 35K-40K dollars depending on quality and bulk price. Don't know the retail price in NY but at 250/oz that is 100K. A flight, a rental car and hotels might be 5k. He was just lazy.

Imagine middle America like Missouri and Iowa prices on that good Cali bud. A pound doubles and triples in prices..

It's FedEx that don't allow cops to borrow uniforms for stings. But they do allow them to confiscate the packages. They regularly bring dogs into the terminal I work at and find drugs every time. They took a box off my truck twice this week.

Don't know why he just didn't drive it across the country. No security, no drama.
