so today I needed a refill on my antibiotics for my leg and my regular primary care physician is on vacation till next Monday..

my company insurance is recommending going to these Urgent Care places rather than a hospital ER (unless you really need an ER in which case you should call 911).

I looked for reviews on Yelp; mostly kids with sinus infections, but NYC 20 somethings have attitudes and feel arrogantly entitled. most of the reviews liked CityMD who is opening up all over the city so I went to the one 8 blocks away.

From the time i walked in, it took 10 min to see a doctor trained in the US, interned as an ER specialist. Not Jewish (can't have everything) but was NY Italian (which is close to being Jewish). they took my temp and bp (to determine if i was sick). Getting to see a new doctor in under 3 months here is amazing.

Took my medical history, and the info about the meds the doc gave me last week. Decided to change my meds to a more comprehensive combination that cost less for more. then they transmitted my prescriptions to my pharmacy over the internet!

Best was when i left: no co-pay or co-insurance! I saw a real US doctor for nothing out of my pocket?

Of course CVS is in the stone age and took an hour and a half to fill my 40 pills.

Not sure just what these urgent care facilities can handle, but as of now they are on my list of resources since registering with one registers me with all of them.

    no thanks to obama.

now we just need CityDDS to open up.

I agree about NY Italian being close to Jewish. You have to live there to get it.

You will get an invoice in the mail once they get the EOB from your insurance.

they got that from my insurance already. everything was done online in real-time as the doc was examining me

these guys have the whole thing digitized exactly the way healthcare.gov isn't

my EOB copy was in my office email when i got home and logged back in.

well i don't know if its entitlement.

i only expect to get the things i pay for; my primary care doctor is out of network, expensive, and worth it. I pay to see him annually what many people pay for a new car.

no; my employer is the guarantee of payment. my employer is their financial backer. i looked them up in Hoover before i went over.

the EOB is the affirmation of payment.

we don't have that; then again we don't have french canadians so i guess its a wash.

my expectations of these places was that they were the same as Duane Reade or CVS. Today they were miles apart.

my wife works in a hospital & the prices compared to the doc in a box, urgent cares, & private practices are crazy high at the hospital, 4,5,6 times the price for a basic xray for example...health care is seriously broken & been that way for a long time. obongcare doesnt do a thing to fix the costs but the medical profession brought that shit on themselves.

I went to urgent care this past weekend myself. They are good! No need to make apt with Dr and not an emergency.

    Done deal!
