The siding (T-111) on the spare one car garage was rotted in areas so while pulling it off to replace I found the sill and some studs were shot as well. Not surprised but not thrilled about it. Also found that the wiring was snacked on by mice/chipmunks so I had to pull that out and I will replace it soon.

Exposing the wall internals from the outside, finding the rot, sistering the studs and grafting repair sections along with replacing the sill and finally new T-111 is added.

New roof is being installed tomorrow (I can do it but I HATE roofing) then I can tear into the last wall to look for similar problems.

You didn't use treated lumber on the new sill? It's gonna rot again.

I was going to give you a hard time about the roof too.

I hate roofing as well. It might be because I couldn't lay a straight course if my life depended on it.

I'd save about $1k doing it myself but I'd be bitching the whole time and that would take my whole vacation week. I'll be done with my repairs in time to make my BGE table finally. :toptip:

Have you ever done that? I've thought about it but I have that white guilt thing going for me feeling like I'm exploiting them. I know two guys who routinely use them. Both of those guys are Latinos themselves.

That shit would rot in a year down here. I had that on one of my houses in Indiana and a couple of my sheds.

I'm thinking there are a lot of meth labs in the area you live.

I remodeled my bathroom in my very first house, a 1929 little 900 Square foot crackerbox. I used T111 halfway up the walls in the bathroom trimmed with cedar and installed a chocolate brown toilet and tub. It looked like a porn bathroom. Somewhere along the line, a later owner had to say WTF?

That would be awesome in my basement. Maybe I'll steal that but use pink sinks and toilets.
