From new live album.
Dave sounds like shit...
Tell us something we dont know
The band sounds good.
Alex van halen sounds like shit here
ponderous sounding...just ponderous. do not want.
Yup, his voice is completely gone. At this point I'd rather see a VH tour with Hagar, his voice is still very strong for his age.
A Roth performance is 25% vocals, 75% him being Diamond Dave. These vocals are ropey at best.
Is this a joke? I read that there would be no overdubbing but sometimes it's for the best (KISS Alive).
The number of people clamoring for a live VH album that's not recorded in the 70's and 80's must be in the hundreds.
Saw them twice with DLR in the early 80's and twice since they hired Dave back. He actually sucked live back then too but now it's way worse. I almost think Eddie is doing this as a fuck you to Dave. There's no way he heard this and thought it was good. They specifically said it wouldn't be enhanced. Makes me sad, David lee Roth was a rock god. He was all bombast and attitude back then didn't matter that he couldn't sing too well.
They totally removed Michael Anthony's voice out of the recording.
There definitely were times during the show that I was convinced they were piping in Michael Anthony's voice as backup.
Panama sounded like
they did a tour or two with that guy from extreme when dave and hagar were both out
Yeah, that went well....
Wolfie looks like he'll be doing "My 600 Lb life" soon!
I honestly think Ed genuinely DOES hate Dave and released this "warts and all" just to make fun of Roth..HAS to be. NOBODY in their right mind would release a live album from this version of Roth Van Halen, maybe from that first 2008 "reunion" tour, I saw them on that tour and even though Roth was bad, he was passable...this last tour and spot shows Roth is singing everything higher than it needs to be and totally out of key, it's insane..
BTW, I love Hagar, I love the Roth and Hagar fronted Van Halen's equally, but I love Hagar's solo stuff a 1000x more. I do NOT want him back fronting Van Halen, I saw them on the 2004 reunion on the tour opener and that was the best show of the tour, I have good memories, leave it at that. But I really wish they WOULD as someone else pointed out bring Cherone back, get Mikey back and just tour with them. Gary did both eras of the band great live, Van Halen is a nostalgia act now, just tour on the entire catalog, people have seen Roth now and know it doesn't work anymore, they'd learn to like Gary fronting them again...
I can sing those songs better then that and I'm recovering from a bad cold!
His voice is cracking all over the place, and the fact that Michael Anthony's voice always blended every vocal and it's missing.
This is more Van Halen then Van Halen now.
