Listening to H100 and they're talking about VH's new song "Tattoo". I've always loved VH, especially with David Lee Roth. I like the new song...

Diamond Dave bitches! I kept expecting him to headbut Eddie. This won't end well.

    Decent song though.

The song's not terrible I guess. If it was on the radio, I wouldn't fight to change the station. But the video, man...hooboy that's just sad.

    It's over, Johnny.

Decent tune, great guitar, DLR sounds good, but they miss Michael Anthony's background vocals.

The song grew on me after a few listens but it does suffer without Anthony's great backing vocals. Besides vocals Anthony doesn't really contribute anything musically. Eddie writes and plays all the bass parts on the demos.

Wolfie I think will be as good, if not, a slightly better bass player than Anthony. He really played well at the Cafe Wha? show, especially on 'She's the Woman'.

I never heard that about Eddie playing the bass parts. Does this include the actual tracks on albums, or just the demos?

I still think it sounds like nickelback wrote it. I hope the rest of the album is alot better, the fucking vinyl is $55.00.

Only on the demos will Eddie play the bass. However, that changed on VHIII, when Anthony only played on 3 songs. The rest of the album was Eddie playing bass.

Thanks. I read Sammy Hagar's book and he mentioned how much they cut Michael Anthony's money over the years, considering he didn't write anything. But I don't think he mentioned Michael not playing bass on tracks. Interesting. I'd love to read a tell-all by Michael Anthony on his days in VH. Hagar's book was a good read too.

lol oh man wherever i go , reference to Wolfie's weight is always a main subject . Shame that they pissed on Micheal Anthony so much, but the guy seems happy and is probably better off being with someone with a lesser ego than those 3.

The sad part is that Michael Anthony seems to be a really down-to-earth guy and is always nice to the fans. Who wouldn't want him in their band? It didn't help his cause that he didn't contribute much musically and decided to "do something" and play with Sammy Hagar.

From what I've read, Sammy really ripped into the Van Halen brothers about how dysfunctional they are as human beings. But you are right, I would love to read a book written by Anthony about playing with Van Halen. He was with all three singers and has to know what and how the brothers think.
