I purchased a new Droid TURBO on Sunday.
Great phone, no problems with the phone it self.

Verizon, on the other hand is as slimy as a company can be.
ALL new phones purchased in a Verizon store are activated by a Verizon employee.
These employees are signing up ALL new phones customers for the Verizon Cloud service WITHOUT notifying them.
They claim that the service is free but it WILL use your data plan WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT!

I raised holy hell with Verizon over their unethical practices after they burned up 80% of my data in less than 24 hours!.

I'm sure it's in the fine print of the contract you didn't read. Go in your phone settings and turn it off if you don't want it to run.

It's pretty pathetic that I've had my phone for months already and have just been sheepishly paying huge data overage fees - not understanding how the fuck my data was getting used up so quickly - without finding out what was going on.

Thanks for the heads up :wigtip:

Ouch. It's bad enough how hard they fuck us with bandwidth.

Luckily you caught it. Less tech savvy customers are going to get fucked hard by that one.

I use a no contract Walmart Flip phone.

I recently looked at the nocontract Verizon smart phones, and decided to stick with what I have because these phones don't offer memory expansion via SDCards. So (for instance), if I wanted to store & play music, I'd have to stream it from their cloud- using up data. So for now, I'll stick with a dedicated MP3 Player & Flip phone.

    Don't be a douchebag.

I'm NOT under a contract you twit!
They activated a feature I didn't know existed until AFTER it burned up my data.

How about if you buy a Verizon phone from Best Buy? They seem to have better deals?

Data is the medium that cellular companies use to screw their customers with and Verizon is the most notorious. They have the highest average bill per customer and the fewest grandfathered in their old unlimited data plans. That's why I pay for my phones and refuse their offers for subsidized ones.

Eventually they will get me too though. I have no doubt about that. They can do what they want at any time, because that's what I signed.

I travel all over and never have any issues with Sprint. 4g coverage pretty much everywhere. They get a bad rap, but I have no complaints about them.

    Unlimited data, baby. :slick:

THe phone itself isn't the issue.
I got the phone for free.

Verizon has a policy of activating numerous features without the customer's consent IF you get the phone in one of their stores.

They enabled, Verizon Cloud, Visual Voice and several other services without my knowledge or consent.
My next step is to file a complaint with the FTC and the FCC.
After that I'm going to have my attorney file a suit for fraud in the inducement.
It's worth it to pay his fee on principle alone.

Just found out I 've been charged for "The Hindi Channel" on FIOS since June @$30/month.

Also ... do I have to be faced with an ad for visual voice mail @$2.99 a month every time I check my fucking messages?

    T mobile here I come.

Not to bust your balls but I've never bought a phone in either an AT&T or Verizon store. I have always had them shipped overnight to my house because I wouldn't let those store idiots anywhere near my phone.

    SPRINT is WORSE than Verizon.
SPRINT bought NEXTEL and turned it into a steaming pile of shit.
They try to make material changes to contracts without the consent of the customer.

My attorney notified their entire legal team that their contract changes were indeed material changes and that they may NOT do it without customer consent.
They backed off the very next day.
