Looking to get a jump on the iPhone 6 market, the wireless carrier will take trade-ins
    for the iPhone 4, 4S, 5, 5C, and 5S.

Hot on the heels of Apple announcing its new line of smartphones, Verizon is already offering up deals.

The wireless carrier announced Tuesday that it will give customers a free 16GB iPhone 6 when they trade in their old phone and re-up their contract for two more years. That means a savings of $199, which is the cost of the iPhone 6 with a two-year contract.

Verizon said eligible trade-in devices include the iPhone 4, 4S, 5, 5C, and 5S. This offer does not apply to Apple's new iPhone 6 Plus.

Apple unveiled both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus on Tuesday. The iPhone 6 is equipped with a 4.7-inch Retina display, while the larger iPhone 6 Plus has a 5.5-inch Retina display. In addition to being slimmer and lighter, both models also include an improved camera, graphics, and battery life.

Sprint announced Tuesday that it plans to introduce a new $50 unlimited data plan for Apple's two new smartphones. T-Mobile also said on Monday that it will match any other carriers' trade-in deals, along with bestowing customers with a $50 credit.

Too bad the ios will kill half your 16G and a few songs and pics the other half.
16G is useless unless you're over 65 or under 10 yrs of age ........and both have iphones these days!!
That deal is useless other than to get rid of the least likely iphone 6 to sell.
    Whats next? A watch for 349.00 ? ;)

My understanding is that you get a $200 gift card for your trade in. I believe you could then use it towards a higher priced iPhone.

I got an old iphone 4 sitting around collecting dust. Seems like a pretty decent deal to me.

...you get a good price on the phone but they make up for it over the next 2 years of charge after charge. apple wont talk about the battery consumtion either and their ipay scan for paying at point of purchase will flush faster than a greased turd as soon as it gets hacked and you know it will. apple died with steve jobs, just accept it.

I've always had the 16 gig and never come close to the limit. What are you storing on it? movies? I store all of my movies in Onedrive and just airplay them to the apple tv to watch them, but it does require wifi.

Yes, that's nice... but how do I get the watch so I can once again show everyone around me what a douche-bag I am for talking into my wrist while paying for groceries.

Yeah, if you're storing your whole music library in your phone, you're doing it wrong.

Kind of a scam after all.

Went to verizon and they told me theyd only give me $71 for my 16GB iphone 4s.

Checked Gazelle.com and they are offering $130

I looked at that too. Their trade in is far less than you can sell it for on craigslist. As long as you don't get murdered during the transaction.

yeah, this...I live in backwoods upstate ny & still use my verizon cell for tethered/wifi, the only option I have where I live other than satellite internet which is a joke. with my grandfathered clause I dl like 500gb a month with no throttle , if I went for an upgrade or free phone I'd have to give that up.

The Sprint deal is a fugazi. That is $50 for service only. You have to lease the phone for $20/month or pay in installments or $30/month. So it is $70 or 80 per month. If you sign a contract and get the phone for $199.99 + tax, unlimited service will cost you $85/month.

It is but I'm going to switch to them anyway. I can pay 70/month, get a new phone, and get rid of my home internet that costs 50/month. The speeds here average about 15 down so should be fast enough. I hope I'm not making a mistake.
