In Wellesley, it’s curtains for three dancing Trumps

Three 11-year-old boys attending Fiske Elementary School in Wellesley, MA were forbidden by the school’s administration from performing a dance routine while wearing comically oversized Donald Trump masks.

When the three boys became the Dancing Trumps at the morning edition of this past Wednesday’s school talent show, “at least one” parent complained, according to the Boston Globe, which led to school officials forbidding the boys from reprising the performance at Wednesday’s evening talent show.

One of the boys’ parents, Laurie Mattaliano, told the Globe that the experience has left the boys feeling like they did something wrong even though, “No words were spoken. It’s just pop culture. The skit took no stance in support or defamation.”

Sophomore year in high school I was told in no uncertain terms that I could not perform Ted Nugents stranglehold as the lyrics would be considered offensive. I was outraged. Wang Dang Sweet Poontang was not even eligible for review.

There's no agenda one way or the other. It's just a dance.

Remember when you were a kid and you thought people that were our parents age were out of touch with current pop culture? Now I am at the point where these douchebag overprotective parents are my age. When did it change?

I can't imagine back in college in the late 90s thinking my friends would grow up to be spineless, coddling, PC, over-protective whinny pricks. It is like the girls I used to lift up by their legs to do keg stands now can't stomach a kid wearing a Trump mask. I hate to see how much worse it can get.

It's even worse for me - some of my hardcore punk friends from the 70s are now ultraconservative.
I don't even know how or why that happened, but it makes me sad.
These are just kids having fun. Geezus, what is going on in the world?

According to the article, it was someone that complained that the skit was making fun of Republicans.

I had just assumed that it was someone that hated Trump but, it was someone that felt that Trump was being made fun of.

“A parent took offense to it,” she remembers the principal telling her, because the skits were critical of the Republican Party.

Norcross said she was unsure how the skits could be perceived as attacking the Republican Party — something that certainly wasn’t intended.

lol... could that really be the reason? They aren't even doing anything pro or con. I thought that was just about the Rubio one that doesn't have a video.

Even worse the superintendent doubled down on doing it:

“I think it’s so important for us to be seen as nonpartisan in a highly charged election environment,” Lussier said. And though staff vetted the performances beforehand, he said a more thorough review would have weeded out the dancing Trumps and another skit that featured a Trump-Marco Rubio dance-off before they ever made it to the stage.
“We wanted to make sure that nothing we are doing would be perceived as biased in some way,” Lussier said. “You’re not seeing Democratic candidates certainly.”

All candidates should be given equal time at the local elementary school.

    It's only fair.

actually: someone will probably say this is an example of how biased I am but my instincts are telling me it's not a Republican person who complained.

Feel like it's dishonest of me to believe this isn't a liberal who got triggered and complained since that's what happens 99.9% of the time. hell they'd probably try to get this censored off a COLLEGE campus.

    Hard to believe... but maybe

    i agree 100%
it doesnt matter if it was a republican, why ruin a chance to blame 'liberals', thats why happens 99.9% of the time.
