This vet had a heart attack back in September and Animal Control took his dogs since he couldn't take care of them. Since the man took so long to get better, the shelter sterilized the dogs and put them up for adoption. Now 3 months later, he's finally back on his feet. He visited them and put down a deposit (since he didn't have enough money for the full adoption fee). After seeing their reunion a bunch of volunteers got together and donated enough money to pay the full adoption fee and some extra, as well as dog food, treats, etc. This video is him finding out he gets to get his dogs back.

The way our vets are treated really breaks my heart. This poor man served his country, and he has to scrape up money to try and get his dogs back. Thank god for those people that donated.

That's a great video. It's good to see an old veteran so happy. Those employees at that pet store should be commended.

The part that got to me the most was when she told him she was not taking the money.
He immediately thought they were not allowing him to get his dogs ... you can tell he was used to more negatives than positives.

Do you know the back story? Because literally millions of guys did this thing called WW2 for about 1-3 years back in the 1940's, got out, and went on to provide not just for themselves and dogs but families. And they saw far far worse than 99% of Naval veterans since have seen. This guy would have to be at least in his 80's (which he is not) to have seen much more than fairly safe and relatively comfortable duty aboard a ship unless he was in a handful of elite units, which I suppose might be the case. But that is unlikely statistically. So the odds of his suffering from "PTSD" are less than 1% here. And he seems to have vision, and four arms and legs.

Considering people live about 80 years now you can't support all of them for the rest of their lives if they are otherwise healthy. Yes, if they were genuinely disabled they should get a generous disability pension and be taken care of for life. War is expensive. One reason we should avoid doing so much of it.

My cousin was in the Navy. My uncle was in the Navy and served on a ship in peacetime. Both liked drinking more than working and so were always short on cash. My dad was in the army in Korea. While my uncle bought race cars and drank, my dad saved his money and retired comfortably. Everyone makes their choices. I think this was a kind deed, but the veteran part of it is not really what matters here.
