It's April 17, 2013. Howard and Beth are about to go to LA. Big celebrity parties, meetings, etc. Only problem is, Howard's feeling a bit sick. He thinks he might just spend the trip in the hotel suite. That doesn't sound so good to Beth. She plans on sticking to the social schedule even if it means going it alone.

But she quickly shakes off that selfish idea, and claims that yes, she will be there for her man.

Watch the enthusiasm with which she proclaims her devotion to Howard. You just don't see love like this anymore.

In the second half of the clip, almost as if he's talking to her for the first time in months, Howard asks his wife's name.

    Her answer?

    "I don't know"

She claims that she will "work on" legally changing her last name to "Stern" with almost the same amount of gusto with which she professed her devotion to sick Howard.

Howard responds with a defeated "no, you won't".

I can't believe this is an official show clip. The Howard TV guys must have hated him even back then.

Boy he is such a pansy. I kind of feel bad for her. He treats a sore throat like it's a terminal illness.

You can just hear "This isn't what I signed up for" in her voice.

If I truly didn't know either of them and watched this video cold... my first question would be, "are these two people still married"?

She seems to have had enough of him and his complaining.

That's just sad. I had all that sh*t done in a day. I couldn't wait to get my name changed.

This. Took me 1 or 2 days, as there was a lot to change (bills, credit cards, tax stuff, insurance plans, driving license, etc).

I seem to remember the credit card companies made the change over the phone... I didn't even need to send them the official SS change document or anything. I did it all during lunch breaks and probably a bit of time at night.

    She didn't want the change.

That reminded me when howard had a guest who was getting over whooping cough and he immediately thought hed caught it. It was funny. Then he yelled at booey for not telling her to rebook.

Beth goes with the 'it's a whole thing' line - too bad she has to lay around and take pictures with cats all day to save lives and doesn't have the time to go through the name change process.

Honestly, the Stern household "help" could do 95% of the name change pieces for her that needed to be handled.

Even between buying Wiggy's wipes and condoms, Laura could have handled these changes as well.

Beefus didn't want this change, plain and simple.

and you probably didn't have a team of lawyers and assistants at your disposal

she borrowed Howard's phrase: "it's a whole thing!", but it wouldn't have been a whole thing for her. She would have needed to sign a few papers and shown up at the passport office for the biometrics, which she would have been driven to and away from. and it would have been by appointment; there wouldn't have been any waiting in some government office waiting area for 2 hours, or being ping-ponged back and forth between departments.

but as retarded as that part was, it's not even the big takeaway from that exchange, imo; it's that he had to ask her what her name was!

Isn't that something you, I don't know, clear up over breakfast, after coming home from work, over dinner, during pillow talk/spooning, or any other time a real live married couple interacts with each other?!?

Has she legally changed her name to Beth Stern or is she still Beth Ostrosky?
