    My chick's grandmother is now in a nursing home... wow had to be the most depressing shit I have seen in a long time

    fucking dozens of old, old people just waiting to die.. sitting in beds or wheelchairs staring at ceilings or walls

    just waiting for pain relieving bliss that death will bring

    legalize right to die now

    Totally agree, X. My mom is in one of those places and I really FORCE myself to go see her. I absolutely hate it. It's a place where everyone has their own room, like a small hotel room, but the common areas are just beyond depressing to see (and smell).

    A friend of mine had a freak accident 2 years ago (she was 50), resulting in a brain injury, and she's been nursing-home bound ever since. At least my mother will be 89 this year; my friend can live for decades in her house of horrors. Seeing her is even more difficult. The place she's in isn't just for old people. It's really jarring to see people in their 40s & 50s all effed up & waiting to die.

    I know. So sad. Went to see my husband's grandmother ( yes, still alive, amazing genes ) and there were ppl laying in HALLWAYS and would just start moaning in pain or sadness or whatever. My son went up to a woman who was doing this who no one was helping/attending to and tried to ask her what was wrong and got yelled at.

    Seriously!

    She was found by paramedics just hours before she would have died. Doctors think she was probably on the floor for two days without enough oxygen to the brain; her 17 lb dog was found dead next to her. :tears: She was one of the funniest, smartest people I've ever known and now she can hardly feed herself.

    Okay - sorry for the downer post. Just thinking aloud.
