I was there last month and went to Annapolis and fell in love with it. I'm going back next month and would like to visit other seaside communities similar to Annapolis or better. I would appreciate your suggestions, Maryland Shedders, and those who visit the state enough to know what's up. And no, I won't be going to Baltimore.

If you run into McNulty (BPD-Homicide Division), tell him he's an Irish Bug!

I hear PG county is lovely this time of year. Oxon Hill perhaps?

You've already seen the best MD has to offer, better off going somewhere nice.

Really? Annapolis is the nicest place in Maryland? Well that's a bummer. I don't want to do the touristy stuff in DC again since I just did it last month and I'm trying like hell to stay out of Virginny.

Annapolis - Pussers, Federal House, McGarvey's, Chick and Ruth's.

    Baltimore is a shithole.

Yes Annapolis is probably the nicest city in Maryland although there isn't that much to do there if you aren't into boats, seafood and Naval history.
Why would you want to go to Maryland but not Virginia?

I'm into boats, seafood and Naval history. I live for those oranges.

I'm not morally opposed to going to Virginia, but I went there several times when I was kid and I just remember there being a crap ton of trees. And that's it. I'd like to see more of Md. just because I'm not on the east coast a lot (Coloradan here) and Annapolis was so charming that I assumed many other places in Md. would be, too.

Deep Creek Lake is nice and Swallows Fall. Incredible waterfall. Lots of inns. Scenery and history. Loads of parks.

I think from what he said above he is looking for seaside locations and not mountain getaways but I could be wrong.

I'm a she. And that's correct, I would prefer seaside Md. because I have all the mountains I could ever want right here in CO.

Annapolis is probably the best. Most history & attractions. Baltimore Inner Harbor is next & reasonably safe, especially in daylight. All riot jokes aside it has Fort McHenry, National Aquarium, Science Center, Camden Yards, Ravens Stadium, restaurants in Little Italy & tons of great bars & other eclectic places in Fells Point, Federal Hill & Canton. They all ring the inner harbor.

Smaller seaside communities are Solomon's Island, Havre De Grace and Chesapeake Beach on the western shore. St. Michaels & Rock Hall on the eastern shore across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

Eccchhhh...it's bad enough you have to pass through Delaware to get there. My suggestion is to put pedal to the metal and speed through it until you get to Virginia.

October is the beginning of the traditional oyster season, so you owe it to yourself to get some nice bay oysters.

St. Mary's city ain't shabby, but you'll probably go crazy if you spend more than a day there. If you do ocean city, then you owe it to yourself to visit Assateague Island, but make sure to bring some bug spray.
