I drink smoothies every morning switching from a Nutribullet (about a year old) to Vitamix. Does anyone else have one? This is your chance to humble brag :giggle:

I did hours and hours of research when I was going to buy one last year. After considerable consideration I bought a Blendtec instead. Vitamix was sued by Blendtec (and they won) for ripping of their design for the container. The vitamix requires a plunger that you have to use to keep whatever your blending from sticking to the sides. The Blendtec design does away with that altogether. Its called the Wildside design. It has one little flat side that makes everything blend perfectly without that plunger being needed. But perhaps the BIGGEST thing for me was that the Vitamix blenders leave little black specs of rubber or something in the liquid after you done. Im drinking smoothies for health reasons so why would I want those little black flecks in my food? Look it up, its well known but under reported problem. Google it or look up the experiment vids on youtube. Blendtec has a different design and does not have this problem. I love my blender and use it all the time. Makes really good simple 3 ingredient strawberry ice cream in about a minute. Makes hot soup....pretty amazing.

Yes, had one for 10 or more years. I don't drink smoothies anymore, but it was the only blender I couldn't destroy by making smoothies. It's also great for things like blending soup (like butternut squash soup) if you don't have or want to use an immersion blender. Vitamin has great customer service too.

One thing I've found about kitchen appliances (I cook a lot) - if you invest in the more expensive, high end appliances, they last a long time and they have excellent customer service. I'm a big fan of Breville products. I've dealt with them on a few issues and they've sent me free replacements. Cuisinart sucks in durability and customer service.

I have one. Built like a tank. You can use it as a woodchipper if you want.

If you're going to spend that much on a blender, you might as well do that kind of research.

I was on the fence about the Blendtec too, now I have to test to make sure I don't have any black spec issues :)

Little known fact Vitamix is owned by the Mormons or at least a prominent Mormon family. Everyone that works there is Mormon and its a good paying gig.

I lived a few miles from the plant.. and was desperately trying to get into the magic underpants of a girl I knew who worked there. Sadly I never got there.

Don't get one. What ppl have said about black specs is true. Friend has blendtec, says it's great. I have had an old school cuisinart processor that I use for everything, including smoothies, for 18 yrs. Have had to replace plastic container a few times over the years and I have two, one for savory, one for sweet because the plastic absorbs odors. I have a cheapy blender for drinks when ppl come over. :) It works fine.

I have no problem spending $$$$ on cookware/food prep accoutrments, but I've never seen the need for a 500 dollar (or whatever they are now) dollar blender (even though I've had one). :) if you want truly smooth soup, you have to put it through a chinois anyway.

Vitamix works great for me. I make smoothies with it every morning. Nothing ever gets stuck to the side so I've never had to use the plunger. I've never seen any black specks either.
