Anyone that argues that someone in favor of spending cuts is against the poor is an asshole
Here are some tweets from people in the Philadelphia area. Note the names, ethnicities and the fact that they can tweet, but need federal assistance to eat...
I'm in favor of a social safety net as a helping hand, not as a replacement for personal responsibility.
Who isn't? But that is what it has become - a forever democrat vote for more stuff and more power.
Sad but true. Catering to the low information voter...
Walmart can't be blamed for it.....If they turned down the cards, Instant riots and future law suits for violating animal rights......
Best thing to do, Let it be the Gubb' Ments problem.....Just move the creatons on down the line...........
My husband and I were on food stamps. We were both laid off on the same day. He managed to get a job stocking shelves in a shoe store, which provided us with $200 a month until unemployment finally kicked in. The second we had an income we ended food stamps. I have family that keeps spitting out kids just so their amounts can increase each month. They are smart enough to know every loophole, take every twist and turn to keep their benefits but they have "no way to get a job." I would gladly watch the government strip their benefits away.
Yes you are right.
Walmart ARE the ANIMALS you describe.
The "Greed" by corporate created the mess in the Walmart stores.
They could have easily put a Max $$$ per purchase say of $275 (avg entitlement is approx $137 per person for 2012)
Then you'd have a riot between idiot customers and idiot checkout people. I don't go to Walmart very often, but in the few times that I have I've seen a full blown argument between the checkout person and a customer.
Ultimately it's in Walmart's best interest to not enforce any EBT limit. They'll be covered by Xerox, or by the Federal government - who really should (although they won't) get the $$$ back from people charging too much by cutting their next month's benefit.
If someone tries to charge $700 when they have a balance of $0.49, that's clearly intent to defraud. And the goobers probably didn't realize that although there was no limit in place, it's still charged to that person's account.
Noticed in the video that fruit and vegetable aisles weren't touched.
So you agreeing that the REAL GREED(blame) was on Walmart.
hard to fence bananas and carrots...
I'm sure there's enough greed to go around, but you make it sound as if though there was some massive conspiracy. Given the low amount of training the average Walmart checkout person probably gets there would be no easy way to enforce some arbitrary limit of $275. What if the person used EBT for $260 and $40 cash and wanted to buy $300? What if it was two people together?
I see your point, but nowadays all of the "intelligence" for checking out is built into the point of sale systems. Ever noticed that whenever there's an issue they have to call a manager, who turns the key to some other setting and does an override?
I was in a store on Saturday and they were announcing over the PA that Link was down. The few natives that were there just abandoned the carts and walked out...
always looking for a way to scam the system. we'll be paying reparations until the cows come home.
I'll never forget this black guy calling Bubba's show bragging how he sell's crack and make's a couple grand a week but still gets food stamps and he said in a very black voice "ha ha, I is eating steak on the state" piece of shit on "warefare"
But republicans are evil and want people to die whenever they ask for responsibility and law & order to be established.
its the same thing with any issue... Immigration, voter id, abortion, etc... The libs are fucking looney
The local supermarket had lobster for $2.99/lb. I thought things were headed in the right direction when I saw a sign that said "sorry, lobster is not eligible for ebt" but then I looked underneath where it said "cooked lobster is eligible"...
