So I get this frantic emergency service call last night and when I pull up to the house there's neighbors out in the street and a stream running down the driveway. I go into the basement and it's flooded with about 6" of water from a broken faucet. I just capped off the broken faucet until I can get them a new one. The water heater was out so I had to clean out the burner and relight it. No problem. Here's the fucked up part. There was so much water that a big plastic tub floated over to the boiler and caught fire which pretty much roasted all the controls on the front of the boiler. These are the controls that were on the front of the boiler. Now they're evidence for the insurance claim. New controls and wiring. It was an old millivolt system so I replaced everything with 24 volt controls and rewired the system. Toasted gas valve. all fixed. when I got out of there about 9:45 last night the old couple in their 80's had hot and cold running water and heat.
