The musician posted the graphic photos alongside a rant defending the killing of the animal last week

Country music star Kevin Fowler has shared gruesome pictures of a friend's snakebite injuries after coming under fire for killing a rattlesnake.

After he posted snaps of the dead snake on Facebook, other users called him "stupid" for killing the animal.

But he hit back with the sickening pictures, which show his friend Tommy's swollen hand before and after the sore popped.

In one snap, a huge, grey blister has formed that almost covers the man's entire palm and half of his fingers.

A second picture shows the bloody aftermath of the blister being popped, with pus oozing out of the wound.

Another picture shows the huge rattlesnake before Kevin killed it

Kevin defended the killing and said that all of the 'rattlesnake sympathizers' will change their tune after one of their kids gets bit while playing in their backyard.

He wrote: "Ran into this little fellow in my shed this week. Third one this month.

"All of you people who cry about folks killing rattlesnakes have probably never seen what it looks like when you get bit by one.

"The other two pics are of my buddy Tommy's hand after getting bit last year. He's still going through surgeries and rehab.

"All of you rattlesnake sympathizers will change your tune when your kid gets bit playing in your backyard."

One commenter said he was stupid for killing the animal in its own habitat.

Rant: Kevin Fowler, who ranted about rattlesnakes on his Facebook page
They posted: "Wonder if the snakes friend is posting pics of his dead buddy and convincing every one to kill humans?

"Kinda stupid to take over a creatures habitat and then complain about the consequences.

"I'm sorry your friend got bit, but that's the risk you take when move into their territory which is getting smaller every day. Hope your friend recovers soon."

But some of them defended Fowler and agreed that they should kill the snakes to protect themselves.

Serious: The blister covered the man's entire palm and most of his fingers
""Sympathizers" are obviously not dealing with them on a daily basis as we do here in North Texas?!

"That's all I can assume based on these comments

"My brother got barely SLICED on his toe, and almost lost his whole leg.

"Going on 12 years ago and he STILL deals with muscular damage all the way up his thigh.

"No, he wasn't trying to kick it, it struck with NO warning, because YES they are adapting and no longer give a "warning rattle"."

Rattlesnakes are predatory hunters who live in a wide range of habitats, hunting small animals such as birds and rodents.

Deadly: The snake Kevin killed - they kill around five people in the US every year
They aren't fatal if treated quickly and effectively but they can cause nasty injuries.

An estimated 7-8,000 people are bitten by venomous snakes every year in the USA, with about five deaths occurring each year.

If an antidote is given within two hours of the bite, there's a 99% chance of survival - most deaths occur between six and 48 hours of the bite.

All this "social media" has turned people into whining wimps. Most would shit themselves if confronted by a venomous snake.

It's fun to tell tourists that rattlesnakes love having their bellies rubbed.

I was hiking on a quiet trail in the hills of Europe a couple of years ago and we actually stepped over this snake. It is the Adder snake and the one of very few poisonous snakes in Western Europe. It is very shy, thankfully. The one we saw was about 18 inches to 2 feet in length.

There are a bunch of squirrel/snake videos on YouTube, it's somewhat of a scientific phenomenon.
