Warren Littlefield joins the show next, and shares Adam’s thoughts on chicken-shit tickets for license plates. They also talk about his book, ‘Top of the Rock,’ and his experience as former NBC chairman. Later they talk about the current state of TV and discuss highlights from some of Warren’s successful programming like Cheers, Golden Girls, and Seinfeld.

talks about the drama of leno winning the job over letterman when carson retired & he had to later fire lenos manager.
how cosbys show saved cheers & how nbc was terrified of greenlighting seinfelds jewy show.
this guy was responsible for golden girls, cheers, seinfeld, friends etc, made nbc billions & was later shitcanned.
great interview & carolla lets him talk.

I swear to god -I can't get enough of that goddamn Leno vs Letterman story.
Makes me want to go downstairs and pull down my copy of Bill Carter's The Late Shift and read it a 3rd time.
Thanks for the heads up on Adam's interview with Littlefield... I may have to buy that book.

still don't get carolla's decision to do a podcast on his own terms when he could have signed with howard for peanuts and be subjected to his reign of terror.

Yea, and he could have his fans do shows on Carolla 102 instead of someone with actual talent like Penn.

Hey, I never read Late Shift but I got a free copy of the sequel. I made it through about 1 chapter but found it very boring.

    Your thoughts?

i never read it but i found what littlefield said abot was interesting. letterman was supposed to get the show but ultimately wanted too much money & ownership where leno was cheaper for nbc.

Gotta say NBC's biggest mistake was firing Littlefield and replacing him with that hack Jeff Zucker. Zucker in less than a decade transformed NBC from the #1 network under Littlefield to the #4 rated network that got beat in some time slots by cable networks. Zucker's ONLY positive contribution to NBC was to super size successful shows developed under Littlefield.
