He was good. But that was back in the day when Howard didn't play psychiatrist with every guest.

Back then Howard and Robin would wonder, "Why can't Richard meet the right girl?"

Today, the Wig would say, "Richard Simmons is a gift from God."

I don't consider Elliot Offen part of the old days.

Eliot Offen is a newer wackpacker (2001-present). Richard Simmons stopped doing the show in early 90's. Gilbert had to be the best daily guest that Howard had in early 90's or Kinison in late 80's. Richard Lewis, Belzer and Dice were guests every few months. And Crackhead Bob, Beetlejuice were daily guests.

In terms of flaming queens, I always thought Mark Harris was the best. I remember when he came in the early days of Sirius and it sounded so sad. All the fire was gone. I have to imagine he's gone through all of Martha Rayes money years ago. He must have one foot in the grave by now.

I loved loved loved it when Richard Simmons was on. I always tried to tape those shows. Always funny! Does anyone have any old tapes of the old shows?

I have all shows going back to 1992 and then some. Lots of Richard Simmons bits.

Mark Harris started appearing in mid-90's and he did not get along with Howard to begin with (lots of Martha Raye discussion and accusations of golddigging). Then he would come back, got into an on-air fight with Dice (and annihilated him). Eventually decided Howard wasn't such a bad guy after all.

Richard was the best guest. Here are two youtube clips of all Richard's Stern interviews... someone took a lot of time putting these together (each video is 6.5 hours):

Kinison and Gilbert are still the best of early Stern years.

Gilbert is on my top 5 also. Kinison was before my time but I can appreciate what he brought to the show.

Mark harris was very funny and oh so sassy! :gayhand: I haven't thought about harris in years, but when I hear his name I remember the time he came in the studio with a violinist and played the gayest song i've ever heard. I have the melody in my head but i forgot the words, something about eternity. He was always a good sport. Here's what wikipedia said about him though

On April 23, 2008, Harris, interviewed on The Howard Stern Show, confessed he had spent all but $100,000 of the estimated $3 million she had left him. He went on to relate that he had suffered two heart attacksand was living in New York with one of his adult daughters.

    what a douche

Thank you so much bro! Your quick response is why i love this site so much, true howie fans here. I searched for it but under david not davyd! I had never seen that before and the visual was beyond my expectations. Kudos to howard as well, he was such a good interviewer in the 90's before he changed his style to one of psychobabble. What a great show he used to give us and for free!
