was slavery really that bad?

Sometimes i think the exagerate the whole thing. I mean, whites were kinda dumb back then and had never really seen a black before. And they housed them and fed them. For all we know, they couldve been very well taken care of

I state again: the only mistake was limiting it to race.

Imagine what we could do about the homeless population if it was allowed again.........I'd build a new shed and have a toothless white person to mow my lawn and take care of my property. Food and shelter in exchange for menial labor.

Probably needs to be monitored......the whole "whipping" thing was out of line, but I stand firm to this theory.

Yes, because the scores of thousands of mentally ill who wander the streets would make excellent, reliable laborers to have around your home and possessions.

    You first.

Let us know how it goes.

 you're both mental. Slaves were considered property. They were beaten, raped, and forced to work in inhumane conditions. Slippy, you want someone to mow your lawn? Get a fucking landscaper to do it like the rest of us! Can't afford one? Do it yourself! I hope you two are jerking around...

Think that there wasn't mentally ill slaves? I rather think this a humanitarian approach. Lot of homeless people are just poor, with no options.

I didn't say there weren't holes in my theory......it needs some fine-tuning, but it's a solid way to help others, and myself.

I do it myself, right now. If I can avoid it, and help out a homeless person - that's a win/win my friend. PLUS - I'll finally build the elusive "shed" you've all accused me of burning down. :c

    What you're describing isn't "slavery". It's employing a laborer.

You clearly haven't met me. I'm bossy and cheap. ;)

Perhaps best to refer to it as the "barter" system? You do this and I'll do that - no exchange of money?

Well now you're just being racist, sir.

I'll have no part of that - unless it's towards French-Canadians. (sorry nantrax, you know I love you!)

It wasn't until the 1'st century that a Roman citizen was accountable for murdering a slave. Before then you could rape, kill, disfigure a slave with no regard for them.
