Was there ever a point in history when The Village People were considered masculine?

Maybe when they were tag-teaming your mother, and one of them knocked her up with you?

no, we were clueless in the 70's about the three mentioned. anyone that says different is full of horse shit. throw Elton john in there also. all the obvious clues were there, yet the fans were clueless.

I must disagree Liberace was queerer than a 3 dolla bill from the jump

And Village People were like the gay people go to band....well known, at least in NYC

ya, but the point you missed was that no one had a clue...liberace was a "confirmed bachelor", all his fans back then were clueless, ask you mudder or granny. the general fanbase had no clue about the village people, Elton john, queen or liberace. it seems weird now because they were so flamboyant but that's the way it was back then. anyone that says different is a fucking lying sack of horseshit.

No. It's always meant, "having a little 'captain' in you."

How about the stories of Rod Stewart, Liberace, or David Bowie getting their stomachs pumped due to the gallons of cum they swallowed? That shit's been going around for 40-50 years. It's a bullshit story that's been morphed into including dozens of stars, but it shows people knew what was up.

my gay brother took me to see the Village people, of course people knew they were gay.

Their songs about the Navy and the Ymca were all references to where gay men could hook up. Same thing for Liberace, and Freddy Mercury, if you knew anyone in the gay community you were well aware of their leanings
