We were discussing this at work this morning as I made our reservations at Churchhill's for our anniversary dinner.

Some of the guys here said they'd NEVER pay $30 for a steak let alone $65

    I would pay 30

I know a few places where I could get a hundred dollar steak dinner, I'm just not interested :c

I get way more bang for my buck when I make a steak at home vs going to a really nice steakhouse. :dontknow:

:jj: That actually was brought up by one of the techs. He said Golden Corral was a perfectly acceptable dinner for a 19th wedding anniversary.

$65 is at the high end definitely but for a special occasion and a super large cut of meat I'd pay it sure. My favorite steakhouse here has the 38 ounce porterhouse for 40 bucks, so I would sort of judge everything against that. Of course youre always going to get a place that's expensive for it's cool factor or various other reasons.

There are some things that, based on my cooking skills, are much better at restaurants. But when it comes to BBQ, steak, and just meat in general I almost always would prefer what I make at home.

I would pay $60 or so for a dry or wet aged prime steak at a high end steakhouse. One of these days I would like to try real Japanese Kobe beef but the price of that makes a $60 steak look like ground beef.

I almost always go to a restaurant for the primary purpose of not having to cook and will gladly accept shitty food in exchange for that privilege. Of course eventually I figure out the places that also have decent food and I stick with those but any time I'm going somewhere for the first time they would literally have to be horrendous (burned shit) for me to not enjoy myself. I'm just easy :dontknow:

If your chick is satisfied with going to GC for your 19th anniversary you're doing pretty fucking good, IMO. Not saying that you should take her there, but if she would be okay with it you're probably doing okay.
