Unemployment has been at 9.9% or higher for 14 months now.

I predict mass rioting and a coup coming.

Be sure to hug your loved ones.

While it is already happening in France I don't see it happening here.

Americans have become fat, slovenly, self-indulged assholes.

When the French are beating us at something it's over Johnny.

They're going to take the Statue of Liberty & replace it with our new Statue of Apathy

We would hire some people if we could find anyone worth a damn.

The schools are cranking out some real rejects, I'm telling you.

The corporations making a turnaround are earning profits and keeping them instead of hiring back laid off workers. Everyone is working harder and longer hours now. I can feel it.

There is a massive amount of reluctance to do anything, because companies don't know how they huge tax increases will affect the future. So they're just stockpiling cash, waiting out Obama and company.

The economy could be very tepid until the White House changes in 2012, assuming it changes. Then companies will spend like crazy.

Most people don't realize just how massive the tax increases will be next year. It's nuts.

They need to build up cash reserves to satify outstanding debt and to strengthen their balance sheets. Many companies cut or eliminated their dividends as well, so they can't justify overhead of more hires to shareholders if their stock doesn't perform or pay any income.

Pundits are saying we are starting to recover due to the Stock Markets being up since March 09' lows. Problem is there is no VOLUME. It is a phantom rally held together with bubble gum and a hangnail McGyver style.

I agree. I'm just pointing out why unemployment is still so high despite a modest turnaround.

Most people don't realize that MOST of that "Stimulus" money was used to cover outstanding state debts and obligations.

    It was a shell game.

And our politicians think that building windmills is an answer to the problem.

    Windmills.

Ever see anyone working on a windmill? Me, either.
