People say they are and it gets my stomach upset :( you either love them or hate them with a passion.
They were a band that rose to fame so fast yet tumbled even faster with inflated egos and no stern direction on there music after Use Your Illusions.
There music videos were expensive at the time and they have many great memorable hits.

The duo with Slash and Axl is iconic in music history, yet haven't released anything remotely good while apart.
For me Izzy was the hard worker in Guns, writing the majority of all the classics and had a hand in almost all main riffs.

    What you guys think? :munch:

I don't think they were. Especially when you think about what else was out there at the time (Warrant, Winger, Poison etc.)

I think it was a Metallica "behind the music" type thing and James Hetfield was telling a story about how hard he thought he the band partied in the 80s until he got a plane to tour Russia with Guns N Roses... said it was unbelievable.

So no, GNR did it right until Axl became a gigantic faegola.

I don't think they were underrated... they got fat and lazy and a Axel's ego destroyed them.

the talent was there and the music of the first four albums were all amazing (Appetite, Lies, UYI 1, UYI2)
They stopped trying and threw together Spaghetti Incident. Drugs and fighting pulled apart the band. Axel's belief that anything he wrote was gold made him lazy and he didn't put in the work... not to mention made him try to put out weird shit that he thought was the work of a genius.

if they would have all died in a plane crash after UYI they would be the biggest rock band ever. This is what happens when musicians live.

Guns N Roses were not overrated. They were simply underachievers. Given the amount of talent they possessed, they pissed away a career that could have included at least five more albums. Most of the blame, however, goes to that nutter Axl for destroying the band by diving off an aircraft carrier and swimming with dolphins.
