Were scientists ever able to explain the success of the TV show "Friends"??

Lamest plot lines, scenarios, & jokes ever to appear in modern prime-time television.....Not a single relatable or likable character on the entire show... Awful writing ... Mega-annoying actors (on and off camera) rounding out the primary cast list....

Granted, a couple of the chicks were hot.. But, you can pick up a rock in any coastal city in America and plunk a half a dozen bone-able broads within 5 minutes.. So, that's hardly a bankable commodity...

They gave us an unfunny show, with retarded plot-lines, and mind-numbingly annoying actors.... Yet the performers were the highest paid of their time, and reruns of the show are still being broadcast 10 years after it went off the air... It's no surprise that only one of them went on to have any measurable amount of success after the show went off the air....

but, WHY did the public enjoy this project so much??? ...why?

Great show. One of my favorites. Still watch reruns almost every day.

There was some dickhead guy in college who was describing how great it was because everyone has a group of friends like that. I mocked the fanook for hanging out with women for reasons other than copulation

Like someone else mentioned, they had a good lead-in, plus when they were on NBC, NBC was the bee's knees, especially on the night Friends was on.

They did nothing to earn that sweet spot they had in the line-up.

The success of "Mad About You" is another mystery of life that probably cannot be answered but has some direct correlation to the success of "Friends".
