Today Howard told Conan that he offered to appear on his final Tonight Show and dis Jay Leno but he heard NBC vetoed the idea. Conan replied that he "heard something about that" but didn't comment any further. That's the THIRD different version of the story Wiggy has told over the years, none of them true. He originally said he was called and invited but turned it down (after pretending he was considering it for several days). Later Steve Langford did an in-studio news report about Bill Carter's book and mentioned it said that NBC heard rumors about Howard appearing but in reality HE WAS NEVER INVITED. Howard then changed his story and said he couldn't remember if he was actually invited or just assumed he had an open invitation to appear any time he wanted. Mr. Honesty really outdid himself this time. Here's the original story:

Howard May Do The Tonight Show Next Week. 01/14/10. 6:00am
Howard started the show singing along to his opening theme song. He said he's not sure why it wasn't a hit. He brought up Conan O'Brien and said that he's thinking of going out to the West Coast next week. He said he's been so busy lately he hasn't had time to go home and just relax. He said he's a little discombobulated this morning.
Howard said his agent called and said that they got a call from Conan and the Tonight Show to come on out and do the show next week. Howard said he thinks that Conan knows it'll be great and he wants to go out with a bang. Howard said that Conan has invited him before but he hates flying and he wouldn't usually do it. He said it would be something else to go out there.

Why is anyone still surprised at Howards bullshit. He's a liar pure and simple. He doesn't like reality so he changes it to suit his needs.

He acts as if everyone is falling all over themselves to get him on their shows!
Meanwhile, he hasn't been on Fallon once since he took over the Tonight Show and he's on an NBC show himself!

Sounds like you would be better off cancelling your Sirius. What Howie says is NOT IMPORTANT! There are better things to be listening to.

Why would they want him, the last time he was on Letterman he lost in the ratings to a Leno repeat.

Making up more stories in order to make himself and his puny audience think he is still relevant.

When the truth is, he isnt. And no one gives a shit about him or his show anymore.

Its Howie's world. We're just ignorning it.

According to Bill Carter's book, "The War for Late Night" barring Howie from Conan's Tonight Show was actually written into Conan's contract as a condition of some comedy bit he (Conan) wanted to do. The bit had nothing to do with Howie, it sounded like some NBC exec randomly included it (probably because they didn't want him talking about how he predicted Leno would end up keeping the show years before).

Howie has mentioned reading this book several times over the years. Sounds to me like he read that part and, like a typical narcissist, changed the facts around to show how awesome he is.

What if Howard isn't lying but DB is lying to Howard to a) make him feel better or b) to make Howard think lots of work is constantly being done on his behalf.

You want us all to be a buzz.

All these years in therapy and he still can't be a normal human being and tell the truth. I know people tell white lies all the time but I find it downright repulsive when someone bullshits as much as Howard.

You are an idiot if you think that 112 shows X 4 hours (and I'm giving your sycophant ass the full 4 hours) equals quote, "thousands of hours". It's actually 448 hours, which falls into the lower end of "hundreds" of hours.
