I just found out last night that my bank's database of debit card numbers was hacked!

A woman in South Carolina used my debit card number to buy 1600 worth of gift cards.

Now the strange thing is she had an actual card with her name on but with my debit card number on it!

I was in the process of paying bills when one failed so i went checked my account and was horrified to see i had been ripped off of over 1500 dollars.

The good thing is that there are many of us that have been ripped off. So it looks like I am going to get my money back pretty quick.

What the fuck is up with Wal Mart? Would it not raise a red flag if some bitch is buying thousands of dollars worth of gift cards with several different debit cards!!!?

I called the Wal Mart and the manager said they have her on video but at this time they have not caught her.

The gift cards at Wal Mart are just like cash. She is turning them into cash somehow. The good thing is there is a paper trail. They did not get our pin numbers so they were unable to hit the ATM.

It has happened to me quite a few times with credit cards, but never my debit card. American Express called me once and asked me if I was in Cancun and had just run up a $7000 bar tab at Senor Frogs. When I told them it definitely wasn't me, they just said they figured it wasn't and would send me out a new card.

Damn. Sorry bout that. I know the feeling. Years ago, my wife's bank discovered that someone had copied their checks and were going around town buying thousands of dollars of random shit. The women printed checks with stolen account numbers, and just signed her real name. The branch banks still cashed the checks even though the name didn't match the account name. We had the account frozen except for a few outstanding checks that were to be allowed through. Even after all that, that same branch I was talking to the manager in let this same woman cash another 5000 dollars in stolen checks. The bank told me that wasn't their problem since I had let the account stay open for a few checks to clear.

Needless to say, when the police came to remove me from the building, we had already decided to switch banks. I hope yours get rectified better than ours did.

Only at a ATM. They ask for an ID at Wal Mart but her name was on the card. So this is big, someone making cards.

Same thing happened in my city.
150-something people had their debit and/or credit card numbers stolen after using their cards at a popular local restaurant.
It was suspected of being an inside job but a subsequent investigation was conducted by law enforcement and they determined that the restaurant's computer data base had been hacked by outside sources ... from another state.
    What a bunch of shit.
    Sorry for your grief.

That fucking sucks bro. I hope you get your money back and they catch that fucking bitch.
I've been a victim myself and it's been a headache getting things back to normal (8 credit cards and $26,000). Maybe it's easier now, this happened to me about 9 years ago.
