Oh man, Willie and Waylon were doing their thing before my existence BUT I've been to several Willie shows. Man, I can only imagine how that was with Waylon.

I've seen Willie a few times but never saw Waylon. He was going to tour (I think it was in 2000) but he was too ill to do it. Other than that I've seen dozens of concerts (Stones 7 times, The Who 3 times, AC/DC, Van Halen, Metallica, Aerosmith all mulitiple times along with a shitload of other bands) I'd have to really sit here and think about all of them. All the great, classic bands are dying out though, I'm glad I got to see them before they got way too old. (and most of these guys were fucking old when I saw them)

Most unique was Prince doing an impromptu gig in a Vegas club. Buddy was a VIP high roller and we walked right in and were a few feet from his magesty. Other favorite was The Cult in a small old school theater in Chicago.

The absolute fucking worst was Jackie at the Chicago Theater, complete with the same planted heckler for Jackie to toss out. Walked out 1/2 way through.

Man, that's pretty awesome. I've never been a goer-of-big-concerts like Van Halen, etc. The venues have always seemed too huge. The times I've seen Willie, he's played a place called the Tabernacle. I've seen Bob Dylan there a couple times, too. Also saw Bob at a minor league ballpark with Willie. That was pretty fun.

Otherwise it's been exclusively smaller venues. I actually got to see Dierks Bentley at the Variety Playhouse. He'd booked it before he hit it big and it was probably one of the last smallish venues he did after getting big.

Hank III a bunch of times. . . . Masquerade, Vinyl, etc. Unknown Hinson at a drive-in theater and a place called the Star Bar. Blackberry Smoke at several different venues.

There was, I don't know if they still play, a great AC/DC cover band in Atlanta called Bitch. They played every Wednesday at midnite at a place called 9 Lives Saloon. They were pretty fantastic. The singer, Tyson Herring, sounds just like Bon Scott.

Tennessee Rounders, Dale Watson, Wayne Hancock, Tift Merritt. . . . countless others. Pretty much small venues, though. Just not a fan of the big ole concerts at arenas.
