We recently took our 16 year old sheltie/shepherd (Monty) to the vet for the last time. Today I picked up his ashes and they came in a very nice engraved box. He'll join his siblings on our fireplace mantle which is getting a bit crowded.

It just got me wondering what other normal people do but until I talk to some I figured I'd ask here. :c

Mrs. Lemmy and I have both said that when we are dead we don't care if we end up in a landfill but we can't treat the pets the same. :jj:

I heard you have to pay extra to make sure you get your animals ashes exclusively otherwise you get a bunch of shit all mixed together. :dontknow:

Is it that way with people too ?

as for the deceased animal dig a hole deep enough so vermin can't rob the grave.

When our cat Mugly died, I put her on a shovel and launched her in the pine trees on the other side of the fence.

Sorry to hear it. I'm waiting for my cat's ashes to be returned from an in-home euthanasia. I paid extra for the return of them instead of group cremation. I'm not sure what I'll do with them, maybe bury them at my parent's house under a tree in the woods.
