Thinks about all of this? Stoic to the end or having regrets?
He gets a paycheck.
He made his millions. He just keeps quiet now and goes through the motions. He's not a dumb man. For years he ripped on Imus for his young gold digger wife and people who star fucked. He's knows, but enjoys his money and his peace.
fred has a family to support and doesn't give a fuck, nor should he
Yeah, but doesn't part of you hope Fred is pissed and grinding his teef?
Besides his knowledge of trivia, Fred doesn't seem to have an intelligent thought about anything
Bingo. Fred is actually the most interesting and intelligent person of them all and always has been. He's never had the fire (or immaturity) of Jackie or Artie, but he knows *exactly* what's happened to the show and accepts it for what it is. He's pretty clearly made the decision to ride it out to the end and retire a happy man.
Regrets about what? Staying in Hartford instead of hitching his wagon to Howard's rising star? Fred would still be doing overnights for 500 listeners if not for Howard. He's smart enough to know that.
Fred doesn't overshare & never has, except for the few times he exploded (the NYE date with Jackie & his wife, etc.). Other than that, he plays his cards pretty close to the vest. I'd love to read the man's uncensored memoirs.
This Fred would've torn the new Howard and his gold digger celebrity seeking wife to pieces.
Anytime Howard asks him to weigh in on something, he has the logic of a bumbling retard
guess I meant playing the game so long after the emperor had no clothes...
You are so right. Fred literally won the lottery. ESPECIALLY for a radio gig. Forget what we think about the wigged fraud, Fred scored big time. I only WISH I could hitch my wagon to someone and be employed 30+ years and make great money. I would go along with anything that closeted, horse loving, man-child had to say....and clap every time I looked at my bank statement.
Hmmm wonder why?
I think his true feelings on the matter are one flippant remark away. Fred is just a powder keg ready to explode. Howard needs only to make the wrong comment about Fred's marriage or parenting to hear how Fred really feels.
Those last few years it has seemed that anger is simmering close to overflowing with that man. He was always sensitive about his privacy but a couple of years ago Howard tried to speak to Fred and mentioned Tess, his daughter. The look on Fred's face would have made me clear the building, but Howard started a sentence about Fred's wife and stopped in his tracks. Not sure if Fred is still married or what. He'd be a tough person to live with, for sure.
Well didn't Fred basically call Howard a star effer a few years ago?
Yeah, especially if he uses his normal debate tactics -- fake laughing, condescending, rudely mimicking the person -- on his wife.
And I'll believe in Howard's evolution before I'd believe in Fred's. In Miss America, Howard calls Fred "the biggest homophobe on the planet." (Now he's sitting quietly as Howard lectures his listeners on gay acceptance everyday.) On the Wrap-Up Show about six years ago, Fred said his wife basically has to restrain him from running up and laughing in their face when he sees a little person walking down the street. (Now consider his vitriolic torture of Eric the Actor.) And he became a raging prick on the air when it was revealed that he hadn't yet given Will Murray a wedding present after almost a year, calling Will classless for discussing it. (Will said that all he wanted for his wedding present was for Fred to admit he forgot about it. Fred bitterly refused to give him that.) And it's come out many times from back office staffers that Fred is an angry dick to his underlings.
Yep, Fred's scary. I think that, in the back of his little tiny mind, Howchie knows this, too. Never forget a temper like that. It all makes sense about Eric now. Wonder how the Missus stays with his anger. Ewww.
He is just sitting there watching the wheels go round and round
