Where, in today's popular culture, do you see Howard's influence or impact?

I'm starting to think that even Howard's most conservative appraisals of his impact on popular culture were gross over-estimations.

I can see the cultural impact of his former enemies... men like Jerry Seinfeld and Rush Limbaugh have their fingerprints all over modern culture, comedy and public discourse.

So, what is Howard's legacy exactly? Is there anything he 'innovated' that hasn't aged horribly? I can't think of anything.

His show has been a reality show, wrap-up show, since Artie left.

He engaged in a two year contract with a sub-par reality show that is competing, solely, with YouTube clips of Britain's Got Talent. And is trying to market himself as "America' Judge" - but he is a tired man, bordering sixty and aimless. No one is hyping themselves for his "Devils March into television".

Had he maintained his transparency and honesty and lost his hair and value and told us all about how shitty that was - instead of crying about his childhood, fifty years after the fact - I think we would have all identified with him and his painful journey into obsolescence. But now, we are stuck with a tired old man that does not want to be an iota as honest as he used to be or turn a comedy chair into a second voice - we just have a simple old man that worries about his nails and his fake hair and how the world of celebrity, that he adores like parents, will judge him.

His legacy is nothing, outside of those of us that once adored him and his voice and fearlessness.

But we have all given up too. And recognized him for the man he really is.

A sad legacy for so many years of brilliance. But a wonderful cautionary tale for future generations.

Do you think Howard invented reality television, or was responsible for the tidal wave of reality television in the past decade-plus?

    I didn't think I said that.

Any more that I said he invented the wrap-up style show.

Your only legacy are your children. It'll be interesting if any of them even acknowledge him as their father.

Almost everything he did was ripped off from Steve Dahl, and Jackie wrote everything else. Most people don't even know who Howard is anymore. :jj:

Howard is like a major league hall of famer who stayed in the game too long. People won't remember the home runs as much as the srike outs.

If by legacy, you mean how he'll be remembered.......

I'll remember him as a great entertainer early on.....morphing into (or exposing himself as) a phony, greedy liar, who's unhealthy obsession with money, image, and cock trumped his earlier success.

    To sum it up........a cunt.
