Did you know he stole most of it from a Brazilian? All Rod's royalties from this song goes to UNICEF, so I guess its okay.

That song always cracks me up. The sex education videos in grade school had that song in it and I busted out laughing and the teacher yelled at me.

Well, technically, most of them aren't his songs. Most of his songs are covers of other people's work. He and Joe Cocker are two of the most successful cover artists of all time. Stewart even somehow found the loophole in the rights of Bob Dylan's "Forever Young" and took writing credit for it himself when he re-recorded the song.

From the album of the same name. According to the documentary on Ronnie Lane's life and career "The Passing Show" (highly recommended on Netflix btw) this is the album that broke up the Faces.

I don't think Rod Stewart gets near enough credit, but much of it is his fault for putting out some really shitty music. But his stuff with The Faces and his early solo stuff is amazing.

BTW, Ronnie Lane's bass playing is fucking amazing in this clip.

This is probably my favorite. Just about any song that has an organ and fiddle will make me happy.

So Many great Faces / Rod Stewart Songs.... Its hard to choose just one. Every picture tells a story ( the entire album is great), Gasoline Alley, Stay with me, You wear it well, I'm Loosing you, Maggie May, 3 button Hand me Down... Howard was correct when he said that Rod's Solo career was what killed the Faces... I used to speak with the organ / piano player Ian McLagan (Mac) on a regular basis several years ago... He told me basically the same story..... that In the beginning they started off as a real band, but shortly after Rod began only focusing and writing material for his own Solo albums and basically turned the rest of the members of the Faces into his backing / side band.... In the end they couldn't even get Rod into the studio to sing any of the new material they had written. The rest of the guys were tired of being Rod's side show, so when the Stones offered Ronnie Wood the job to replace Mick Taylor of course he jumped on it.

A few more great performances by Rod and the Faces that I love:

    Bad N Ruin

    Stay with me

Maybe Im Amazed that Rod mentioned in the interview... Killer Vocals by Rod in this one & I actually like it better then the original with McCartney's vocal:
