I've had most all in my travels, but I still love my classic NY slice. I had a discussion/argument tonight with some friends who still travel a lot. Lets see what Dawg's thinks. :)

Grimaldi's is tits! Been to the one in Scottsdale.
I love a NY pizza, but I love Sicilian as much as deep dish too. I must say, my deep dish rivals Giordanos or Malnatis.
Here, my favorite Minnesota pizza topping is sausage and sauerkraut.

There aren't different styles of pizza.

There's pizza, and then there's what the rest of the country eats.

New park Pizza in Howard Beach, Queens.
Been there for like 50 years. They put a bit of salt on the bottom of the dough before cooking. Brick oven, super crispy and thin. And the slice sticks straight out when you hold it. No limp, soggy dough.
They only make regular pizza, cash only, you can have all the classic toppings but its only regular pizza, no hero's, no Sicilian, nothing.
They're the best Jerry.. The best!

Even though Long Island is dominated by their Grandma style, I still love my classic pie....

This thread spells danger for me.

I swore off late night snacks eons ago, and suddenly I want pizza at 10pm.
Thin, slightly charred on the bottom yet chewy-ish crust, fold in half, big huge slice of plain cheese pizza.

    Jerks. :p

    I like 2 kinds.
The fancy schmacy brick oven pizza with the great big burnt bubbles on the crust and the good old fashioned greasy truck pizza that you have to fold in half to eat and the grease runs down your chin.

There's only one reason no one in the country makes pizza like us here in NY:Our water.
Even long island pizza sucks balls. The most popular piece of shit pizzaria around here is Mama Lombardis and its some of the worst pizza ive ever had. The people born and raised on long island and who dont know better praise that damn place. But believe me, it is awful. I cant even eat pizza from long island anymore. It's that bad.
Its all about the NYC water. Some Pizzerias around the country have their water delivered from Brooklyn or Queens because of its quality for the dough. Also, you can't use cheap Mozzarella. Some places use shitty mozzarella and also way too much cheese and it makes the pizza all oily. That's gross.

You New York pizza thin crust lovers can grab a slice, fold it, and cram it up your ass.

I mean that with all due respect.

Best pizza around my area is an old thin crust NY style joint.

Menu is pizza. Nothing else. Place has been there for 60 years. Saw dust on the floor and no hood fan.

Open from 6pm until 3/4 in the morning. If you're a regular, they give out free cans of Bud after 1am.

    Brilliant.
