    1) day I realized Billy West wasn't coming back
    2) day I realized Jackie wasn't coming back
    3) day I realized Artie wasn't coming back
    4) day I realized I bought 3 f*ing subscriptions and there was going to be no revolution
    5) day Howard said he was getting married to Dlist Beth & I knew he was going to become completely neutered
    6) day I realized Beth "she doesn't want to be famous" came in hocking Giftscriptions

Had to be that first show back after the Artie suicide attempt, which was the end for me. I was seriously expecting Howard to do a mea culpa and say something like "Look, I've always been honest with my audience, and I fucked up. I didn't see the signs with Artie, I just wanted to make good radio and I'm an older guy now and I'm tired, but the bag stops with me and my brand and I'll do everything I can to make up for this." And instead I got "Hey everybody, it's Ronnie's Wild Weekend!".

You know Herc, I do agree with you to an extent, but I don't think Jackie was ever the same without Billy. The power dynamic of the show was different, and it was more of a "let's all gang up on Jackie" mentality. To paraphrase the Sopranos, "they were like frick and frack".

"Artie,....Robin who is Artie??....oh Artie yea he is a great guy" - Howard Stern

something along those lines when a caller called in to mention Artie was telling old Stern show stories on his new show

When Gary fell asleep (most likely staged) and for the next THREE weeks we had to endure Gary & Jewson vs Depace all day everyday. That is when I checked out.

The day Artie started to goof on Tyra Banks and Howard cut him off with "We don't mock people that give my wife work". Both Artie and Robin were stunned. A few days after that Howard shut down Artie for saying "Reggie'. The evolution was complete.

Jackie's departure was also huge as the show lost the voice that was willing to call out the others for their shit.

The first show that they decided Gilbert was no longer welcome to sit in for the news. Not only did they not let him sit in, but Robin talked about how she just wants to get on with her news and not be disrupted, Howard agreed that Gilbert was a disruption, and shithead Gary echoed the same nonsense on the wrap up show. I think that might have been the first time they said the show "evolved"? Anyway, at that point, I realized that I no longer cared for the show. I also no longer cared for what the show used to be because it became clear that Howard was a huge phoney.

the same sort of thing happened with Ashton Kutcher, Howard was starting to clandestinely shill for Ashton on the show, and Artie was calling him a douche and his movies suck, etc. and Robin was piling on, and Howard managed to squeak out: "He is?" (after Artie's douche comment) and Artie/Robin were dumbfounded that Howard wasn't with them. It was like Howard was replaced by a pod person.
