I think it ended when he got divorced. Show still had some good moments after that but I think when he got divorced it stopped being the same. That was the moment when he stopped being the common man he always proclaimed to be. Then he went on his so called "tear" which he would never talk about it even though he always claimed he told the audience about everything in his life. We all have seen what a lie that was for all those years. He then married an escort err "supermodel" and then he officially turned into the celebrity asshole he always railed against for years and years. It sometimes blows me mind that someone who provided so much entertainment for so many years could have turned into one of the biggest asshole shitheads on the planet.

Have to agree, although moreso Howard's reaction than the act itself. I'll never forget waiting for the first show back, only to hear Howard intro into talk about "Ronnie's Wild Weekend!" and completely blow over it. I was expecting some sort of mea culpa and brutally upfront discussion with the audience about how he mishandled the situation (including telling Artie to stay on the show when Artie himself had suggested that he go to rehab during the Not My Bro fight), and instead got limo driver bullshit.

I know, I've been a listener since 95 or so and grew up on the show... To see what it's become, it's really sad. I remember wondering what I would do to survive my long commutes when he was gone, to now wishing the show would be put out of its misery. The show should have gone out with a bang, instead it's just petering out with bullshit.

The show was circling the drain by the time Artie left ... but when the "first reality show" blew off the fact that one of its members tried to kill himself well

the show was over for me at that point

When Jackie left the show and Howard never did replace him with anyone of equal or better talent. And yes that is a big fuck you to Benji.

Two months after Artie was gone. I gave the wig the benefit of the doubt to get someone else in there to be funny even if it was temporary. The show has actually died before Artie tried to kill himself but I still clung to it getting better. Now it's painful to listen to.

Truth or consequence, say it aloud. Use that evidence, race it around.

It wasn't just one thing - it was a bunch of things.

    1) Marrying the young blond bimbo and trying to argue that she really loved him for him (LOL!)
    2) Letting Jackie go, but even worse - not replacing him for so long
    3) The worst of all - letting Artie go without replacing him (this was the last gasp for a show that was in the process of jumping the shark)

And the icing on the cake was when he told listeners who complained to cancel their subscription if they didn't like it. So I did, and I told them that's why I was cancelling. Haven't listened since, haven't missed a damn thing.

Can't believe people are saying the show died after Jackie left. That means you didn't enjoy the show at all since 2001. The OP said when the show officially died, not when it was less good, but still enjoyable on a certain level. There was some great shit during Artie's run, and Howard didn't quite become the shit head he is today, that came around the 3rd year of SIRIUS when he married Beth, it was all downhill from there, completing it's final death throw with Artie leaving. Thank you. :D

without a doubt when Beth started getting all the howard props. for me it was the vinaigrette episode. and of course the sal reprimand. silly things but it showed that howard wasn't his own man anymore or st least answering to someone outside the show. also his over the top cruel treatment of jackie. very weird and over the top.

The day he started shooting Private Parts. The show has been on a long, slow decline since 1997.

You are wrong sir! The private part shows were the best, especially if you were rooting for howie. I was disappointed in the movie but i was proud of him that he finally got his movie made. artie was great until he started to fall asleep on the air, then i couldn't wait for him to get kicked off so that jackie would come back. The show started to suck when he never replaced artie with a professional comedian. maybe kroc howie could have pulled it off doing the show solo, but this man who he has become sucks shit.

    1. The end of goofing on each other. Howard doesn't even make fun of Booey much anymore. Robin is pretty much off limits. Yes men all around have made the show consistently boring.

    2. Artie leaving. Never was that fond of Artie, but he kept Howard on track. Once Artie was gone, the show became a reality show wrap up show. I fucking hate reality shows. I have no desire to listen to conversations about American Idol or Dancing with Stars.

    3. 'The Announcement' that Howard was a new reality show judge. That moment was pretty much the final straw for me.

    4. Beth in studio. The 'beautiful' Beth O. Blah blah blah. Fuck that gold digger.

    5. Marbles. Suing everybody. Bitching about not get paid what he is worth. Absolutely cunty.

    6. The end of fun bits like 'It's Just Wrong'. I love that cringe worthy shit.

    7. Boring interviews with Beth's friends. Absolutely unnecessary.

    8. The black full head of hair into his late fifties and the goofy clothes. I can't respect any of that. Quit dressing like a child and take the hair hat off.

    9. Staff exiting with no explanation. Langford, Artie, Crone, etc - no mention of them unless somebody calls him on it.

    10. Robin is out of studio for a year and he has yet to mention it. The elephant in the room. Annoying.
