Says I should move to Colorado Springs. I think I can handle a military town with a bunch of figure skaters. If I was for gun control, I wouldn't have to leave Denver though according to this site.

Newport Beach, CA, obviously they don't address whether you could afford a house in the area they pick.

Denver and Boulder are the only two areas in Colorado that can be considered left in politics. Denver has a ban on open carry, as well as the ever scary "assault rifle" Which they classify as any gun with a detachable magizine that can accept a magazine with 21 or more rounds in it.

The rest of the state is rather conservative as far as things go. I would assume that Colorado Springs gets a pass because it's a military town and they tend to not have their head up their asses when it comes to gun rights.

The most conservative (admittedly an oxymoron) California city is basically a campground.

I just recently watched a thing on the actual difference between Paradise and Las Vegas. I knew they were different, but I hadn't heard the reasons and background of it. Makes me want to find a good book about the subject.

Boulder is also one of the most educated cities in the country and has a high household income. placed like that aren't into guns. Colorado is also a tale of two states. There is little in common between the populated front range and the rest of the state. The flat-landers out in the plains are more like Nebraskans and Kansans. Then there's the mountain people who are an entirely different breed.

What's the deal in California? I see ridiculously expensive homes even in shitty areas. How does the average person live in an area where a basic house is upwards of $1M? Is pay that much higher there?

Thats true, a house in the ghetto costs 700k. I dont see how they do it. You can get a small mansion for that in Texas.

They get cheaper as you move away from the coast but still run 400-500k for a decent place. We all bank on price appreciation, I bought mine 15 years ago,and it's worth about twice what I paid for it, I know guys that are gardeners and handymen that have over a million in equity on places they inherited from their parents.

Rancho Santa Fe is beautiful but:

The median home price in Rancho Santa Fe is $2,353,600.

Lots of pesky undocumented types too, living in the canyons to mow the lawns and tend the orchards for the median homebuyers.
