Okay what was the last movie you watched that scared you ?

the first movie to scare me was The Shinning when I was a kid... (Saw Halloween later and that fucked me up for a week or two)
the last movie that actually had me jumping in my seat was The Ring when it was first released in theaters

Seeing Blair Witch as a kid freaked me out. The first Paranormal Activity was a bit freaky too.

    first: Poltergeist 2

last: The Strangers. I guess some of those Paranormal Activity movies scared me while I was watching, but none of them stayed with me after the movie ended.

worst part about The Strangers was that it gave you no rational reason for what happened... just a family picked at random.. kind of a longer version of the home invasion scene in Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer
or the demon scene in American Werewolf in London

I think the brilliance and real scare factor of Paranormal Activity was how still and quiet scenes would be. It would just rattle you waiting for something to happen.

The Paranormal Activity movies got worse like every other movie franchise that just over does it but some of them still had some creepy scenes. You would just get the "creeped out" chills. The PA movies played on your childhood fears. That's what was freaky. :snicker:

If you like those movies and want something just as good if not better IMO, check out Paranormal Entity and the first Grave Encounters.

The Caller was horrid and Vampire Bill Compton was outright laughable.

this is a weird Czech movie from the 80s.
it has some really unusual and dark animation and uses a fictional language.
needless to say it is not for everyone but it's cool to watch.
i took mushrooms and watched it by myself in highschool and it really freaked me out.
