I can identify with Howard mourning the lack of great new music. Maybe it's just typical of age that I'm driving to Appetite for Destruction or The Downward Spiral instead of something new. Apple Radio has helped me find some new stuff. But it's been ages since I heard a CD and thought, "I need to buy their whole catalog. And any band they've had open for them or they say has inspired them will probably be great too."
    So, discovered anything great lately?

I want to say Warpaint, an all girl band from LA. They really have their own unique thing going on and they are serious musicians.

This is the best quality i could find of this particulair live performance, i dare anybody to watch this and tell me this isn't unique and impressive.

    Few other songs.

I know it's mellow and low key but that's how i like it but i can see how this would not be for everybody.

Couple years old already, but as good as anything as I have heard in years. Still plays a lot in my playlists.

I watched them for a few songs at Lollapalooza last year. They were on my list of bands to check out, which is usually based on something I've read about them ahead of time. I found them to be pretty bad. The drummer was the only one who I would consider to have talent beyond 'kid in his or her basement' level. The singer was painful to listen to. She was obviously going for some kind of quirky, indy thing but she just sounded way out of key and had no business being on a stage at a major festival in front of thousands of people. If you dig them, more power to you. Perry Ferell obviously does, which is why he put them on his show. This would not be the first time I've questioned his taste.

The Kinks Anthology made me pretty much purchase most of their other albums.
Before this Anthology- the only other Kinks I had was "Give the People What they want"
It's brilliantly remastered & well worth it if you like The Kinks.

Other bands that made me go "gimmee, gimmee, gimmee" were "The Replacements", "The Jam", and "The Pixies"

I hear what you are saying. However i've seen some footage of them playing on some festival this year and they sounded very good to me but then again i have also seen gigs where they sounded really shitty. I think they are one of those bands who when performing live its either a hit or miss wich is the case with allot of good bands. Not to compare them or anything but Nirvana had allot of shitty shows where they were just a mess, totally uninspired and they just weren't feeling it. Allot of bands can play on autopilot and make it look credible when they aren't in the mood but some just can't. Not sure if that makes them more or less credible. But yeah i would feel cheated if i wanted to see them and paid good money for it and the show simply sucked. I hate when that happens. What did you think of the first video i posted? To me it is prove they obviously have good days as well.

This. I think it's the first album I've bought this year. Can't remember the last time it was from a new band though. That was years ago.
