i was listening to 80's music this am (@xavier )....and the Heaven 17 song came on, the words are like "it was the best year of our lives"
I think for me it was 28....finally coming into my own at my job, making decent money, paid off the retarded credit cards I maxed out after college, and felt like nothing could stop me...

I'd have to go with 2007. In demand with work (freelance), making the most $ I've ever made through jobs and royalty cheques (and with almost no effort or actual 'work' time..), lot's of travel, second healthy kid born, great wife, lots of leisure time for sailing, riding and other hobbies....not a care in the world.
Trying very hard to get back to that now. Hoping the best is yet to come.

Definitely 1969. That Summer, I bought my first real guitar. I swear, I played it until my fingers bled. Me and some guys from school started a band and tried real hard, but this fucker Jimmy quit on us and this other dude got married and that was the end of that. All that being said, those were the best days of my life!

    Here is my top 5:
    5) 17 years old
    4) 15 years old
    3) 18 years old
    2) 14 years old
    1) 12 years old

And let's be serious - nothing great happens once you're an adult. It's the best to be young and we didn't even know it until we weren't.

Mine was 89 . Great song by the way. From the end of 88 to the end of 91. That was the most wild time of my life and the most fun . The end of 91 was so wild I was on the way to being an alcoholic. I met my ex-wife the last week of 91 and the fun was over . It all crashed and burned after that . I had a good four year run though.
I made a comeback after my divorce in 2004 but it didn't last long and got old fast with my party friends not around any more . By 2006 I packed it in .

When I was 27 years old, I had a great job, a fantastic girlfriend, I bought my first house, and I finally was beyond the trials of my youth.

I grew up in a household where I was constantly berated with promises/predictions of me failing in life, and getting away from that place, securing two college degrees and succeeding at work helped lift my spirits immeasurably.

I have not parlayed that feeling into equal success since then, but I always have opportunities.

Probably 87-88 ... I finished college (somehow) in 86, saved as much as I could (I always worked as a carpenter), bought an F250 and drove to Alaska. Growing up, I always dreamed of being a fishing guide in Alaska, so that's just what I did.

2006. Nothing went wrong. Money, women, my own condo. Just happier than a pig in mud.

    Then 2007 hit. Oy vey.....

I prefer to try to think of 365 days of my life that were the best. I get to remember great days and times with my parents and my kids that way.

1983/1984? Had a great little beach shack in a million dollar neighborhood. Was alone, but I'd ride my bicycle around Newport Beach, go body surfing, work in my tiny postage-stamp sized garden, go to Dead show, was stoned most of the time... The Dude Abides...
