I'll start. When I was a senior in high school in the spring of 1982, I heard some of my friends talking about the new afternoon guy on WNBC (which was a big-time station then), some weirdo with a nasal, high pitched voice who called himself Howeird Stern. I wasn't a big fan of AM radio back then (except for Mets games on WHN and WMCA) and listened almost exclusively to FM rock stations like WAPP and WPLJ. I tried Howard a few times but he was on from 4 to 8. I wasn't usually listening to the radio after 6 pm so I never heard the second half of the show. I stayed a casual listener until he was fired from NBC in '85 and went to K-Rock in September. People forget that he was originally the afternoon guy on K-Rock, but once he started as the morning guy, I was completely hooked. You?
