I already knew of Stern though the Ch 9 show but by pure coincidence I started this god awful job that had me waking up at before 4 am and punching the clock at 5 am

As a person who fucking hates getting up early it sucked.. I would listen to the show on the drive in and became more of a Jackie and John fan ..

I have this theory that most Stern fans are people that had to wake up a the butt fuck crack of dawn and in a zombie like stupor that is kin to Stockholm syndrome became fans of Stern as a way to

not think about how shitting getting up early was.....

I used listen to Steve Dahl in Chicago - he used to complain about Howard ripping off his material and no one I knew at that time knew anything about Stern. I started listening to the HSS in the mid-90s - I had just moved back to the Bay Area and happened to find the show while switching around FM stations.

When I moved to Las Vegas in the early 90s. Had seen Howard on Letterman a few times prior to that, and thought he was funny.

Husband had it on in the car during our daily commute into NYC.
Got hooked with Stuttering John Red Carpet interview. He asked Mira Sorvino "who are you and why are you here".

Channel 9. It was a bit about why one ball hangs lower than the other. And there MAY have been a giant condom involved. I was too fixated on his schnozz to care though. It was F'N impressive.

Then, like most NYer's at the time, he snuck said schnozz into my morning routine. It was on and off though. I completely tapped out when he moved to Sirius and became a pre-teen girl :dontknow: but have caught up on everything worth catching up on thru ze magics of ze webs since.

First heard him around '97, was living in NJ, and a friend liked to listen. When I came back to the states in '99 I tried to listen to music channels, but the not playing the song in full and constant ads got to me. So started listening to HSS, at least it was entertaining.

I used to spend a couple of weeks of summer vacation with my ex at her cousin's place in Bridgeport, Connecticut back in the late 80's. Driving around in the morning I came across Stern flipping around the stations on the car radio. I thought it was funny and cool at time. Sad to see what the show has become today.

'93 when I was like 12. I was home sick and my older brother left his radio on when he left for school. I was an instant fan.

If you started listening in 2010, how did you manage to keep listening? By 2010 the show was already shit. Just not as shitty as it is today.

A couple of years after he started in LA. Was working construction with my uncle in the valley and usually someone would have it on. Pretty much all the guys stopped listening to Mark and Brian when Stern arrived, but would always switch back to KLOS to make sure they heard "Tom Sawyer" at least ten times before calling it a day. I didn't really care about Stern, but then around 1997 I worked in an office with a gay guy from NYC who was a huge fan and he'd have it on early every morning and after I quit that job I realized I was hooked and started listening regularly.

    fascinating, huh?

My parents played the show regularly before I was old enough to care in the mid-90s. My first SuperFan memory was at the age of 11 freaking out at the thought of Stern not resigning after 1999.

    Respect.

Pre-97 is great, too. You missed Billy!
