Are they assuming failure is an option other folks choose?

Failure is never an option, it's an outcome.

Getting up again is the option.

    i agree.

but one of my favorite quotes is from James Dean:

"it's gonna work, cuz it's gotta work. And it's gotta work cuz i said so"

    -East of Eden

so i guess it's not a Dean quote, per se, but more of a Steinbeck quote. Still great, and a great attitude.

my attitude is - failure is always one word, one mistake, one second away and you'd better have a back up plan and be ready to roll.

They're assuming something wrong, that's for sure. Has to be one of the most assanine and annoying catchphrases out there right now.

if you're committed enough to something, you either achieve it, or you die.
