[h=1]Al Qaeda Magazine Urges Attack on Times Square[/h] [h=2]The online terror publication included instructions on how to build and detonate a car bomb[/h] By Mimmi Montgomery 3/21 5:04pm

The NYPD is on alert after the Al Qaeda-affiliated online magazine “Inspire†published an article urging readers to set off car bombs, with Times Square as a potential target.
“Among the photos and the encouragement of where to attack there is a photo of Times Square, 47[SUP]th[/SUP] and Broadway,†New York City police commissioner Bill Bratton told the Daily News.
Inspire, which the NYPD said influenced the suspects behind the Boston Marathon bombing, wants readers living in America to target crowded places such as election campaigns and sports events. “The important thing is that you target people and not buildings,†the Observer read on the site.
The latest issue additionally guides readers how to build bigger explosive devices than those who killed three people in Boston last year.
“We are certainly very concerned by Inspire,†Bratton told the Daily News, adding that the latest edition “has instructions on a new larger device.â€
Those instructions can be found in a section called “Car Bombs inside America,†where a writer using the name “AQ Chef†writes that “America is our first target, followed by United Kingdom, France and other Crusader countries,†The Times of Israel reported.
John Miller, the NYPD’s deputy police commissioner for intelligence said that the NYPD is vigilant.
“We operate on a near permanent state of alert,†Mr. Miller said to Gothamist. “Each day, we evaluate risk and deploy resources to high-profile places or sensitive locations based on intelligence streams and world events. We will factor what weâ€re seeing in Inspire to that matrix.â€

because they run over the protestors with tanks, and then change the popular press later to make it seem as though it never happened.

nobody that lives in NYC goes to Times Sq; we avoid it like the plague (although the bread sticks at the olive garden are pretty good). if they do blow it up they will take out a lot of muslim tourists and merchants. that might not be in their best interests.

You must not have heard of the 30 - some killed and over 100 injured in the mass knife attack by Muslims in a Chinese train station.

it took a bunch of dudes over an hour to slaughter 30 people. They could have brought those numbers up substantially with some AK47's

it's bizarre to me that it's a tourist attraction. there's literally zero there worth visiting. even for an hour or two.

It sucks because any relative who comes from over seas or even out of town...I get elected as tour guide...I try to tell them, but they all insist on going there

Then when they have to wait 45 minutes to take a leak at ToysRus or get charged 300 dollars for a bag of M&Ms at that store...I say "I told ya so"

Meanwhile America is no slouch in the terrorist training arena. Some asshole at Georgetown Univ. made ricin this week..

    http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/03/22/georgetown-ricin-milzman/6732275/

Georgetown student arrested after making ricin in dorm

A Georgetown University student was charged on Friday with possessing a lethal amount of ricin after admitting he made the poison in his campus dorm room.
Daniel Harry Milzman, 19, of Bethesda, Md., allegedly showed off a bag of homemade ricin to his dorm adviser, who notified school authorities. The school contacted police, and testing confirmed the substance was ricin, a court document showed.
The FBI affidavit said he learned how to make ricin on his iPhone and then bought ingredients at retail stores.
"Based on our investigation, we do not believe there is any connection to terrorism," said Andrew Ames, a spokesman for the FBI's Washington Field Office told The Washington Post. He declined to discuss Milzman's motivation for possessing the toxin.
"There is no immediate threat to members of the Georgetown community," a press release from the university stated. "Anyone exposed to ricin would have presented with severe symptoms within 24 hours. This window has passed and there are no reports consistent with ricin exposure."
