There was a little sliver of time when tv was good and had something to say (without being scared).
What an amazing show this was..I barely remember watching it as a kid. I think I'll start from the beginning again.

I think modern TV is better than it's ever been, only current movies are shitty nowadays. My humble opinion of course.

When I watched this show as a kid, we laughed...my parents laughed...and race relations were better because of it

We need to get back to this time

What modern shows confront real issues? If they do, I doubt they do it with humour and certainly not from a balanced perspective.
Don't even get me started on movies....

Exactly. The humour was both ways and everyone could laugh at the absurdity.

If a network had the balls to bring back an all in the family remake

    Huge hit!

I didn't see a lot of episodes - and admittedly, Louis CK is kind of a sanctimonious douche IRL - but didn't his sitcom have a bit of grit to it?

I'm not interested in shows that confront "real issues" I have talk radio and friends for that. I just want good entertainment.

Extended cable runs on average $50-$70 these days, for what???? A bunch of faggot reality shows with 70% commercials??? Anyone who pays for TV these days is a fucking moron.

Oh and you can thank this stupid cunt, Nancy Dubuc, for destroying the only good channels left on cable, History, Discovery, Science, etc... Another stupid woman CEO running shit into the ground.

All in the Family was perhaps one of the top five television programs of all time. Not only was it written and impeccably acted, it addressed many social issues facing America in the early 1970's - Vietnam, draft dodgers, the changing roles of women, gun control, Watergate, religious and racial bigotry. I watched it with my parents all the time. You'll never see a show like that again.

Yeah! Even though the channel is called "HISTORY", we don't want it to be just stuffy black and white documentaries, it needs to be fun! I have an idea, how about a historic cooking competition hosted by a flamboyant drag queen in the line up? Then they can try to steal some viewers from the Food Network, Bravo, and Lifetime!

 Because having a channel that might teach this wasted generation of shitheads something so they don't repeat past mistakes isn't fun, hip, or exciting.
