You are just using wifi when you are connected to it, not using any of your data plan.

I went over to the dark side (Apple) a while back so I'm not up on the latest Android but I thought the latest OS updates were incremental and a whole new one called, I think, Key Lime is supposed to roll out around October. The thing with Android is that every phone doesn't get the same version so it's no guarantee that your HTC will be up-datable to the new version.

I loved my Android phone. I only switched to Apple because there are more apps for my industry that work on Apple than Android.

i am a mac user and appreciate it for my home office and general farting around needs.
i do love the large 4.7 display and fast access of LTE of a mobile phone

HTC two versions of the One, the one sold through carriers with Sense , and the Google Edition which sells through Google's store, which has the stock no-bloat Android. Same hardware, different ROMS, so if you want latest and greatest you can put the Google Edition ROM on your phone which will get the you the newest over the air updates to Android.
