i just realized that i rarely listen to any live versions of albums/songs that i love.
i spend hours a day wandering through the insane amount of music on youtube, but i never listen to a live version unless it's all i could find or a classic like woodstock/monterey.

so i'm going to dedicate my day to live stuff only.

if you had to choose, do you prefer the changes you hear in a favorite song from a live version, or knowing exactly what comes next from the studio version?
    i may be a.d.d.
    acd?
    lsd...

maybe i'm doing it wrong. :dontknow:

i have no idea what this means.

that you enjoy listening to rough, early tracks of stuff?
    i can see that.

If a band can't replicate or even out-perform a studio track live, they suck.

yeah I like early raw demo stuff. the chick in my av released one of the best 4 track demo tapes ever
I also like studio stuff if its not too overboard. I guess it depends on the type of music I like overworked studio shit but not when it comes to rock and roll

It all depends on the song and whether they ruined or improved it live. For instance, I like the live version of Stairway over the studio version. I prefer the studio version of Comfortably Numb to the live versions.

i cringe a bit when i'm listening to some rock i've heard 100 times and they change it up. the crowd cheers and i'm like :nocheer:
which is odd because i'm a huge jazz/fusion/space music loving guy.

I feel the opposite way on that.

I enjoy bands that are able to improvise within a frame work...I think that shows more talent than just copying what they did in a studio.

Note for note is fine, when it's classical, but for me, I'll take the ones who "step out".

i can see some power in this but it's too jarring for my :toke: head at the moment.

I mean that if they sound like shit live without all the studio recording "tweaks" the band sucks... I too enjoy a live song with improvisations.

Some times the live version of songs is completely unbearable.
