The Yellowpages tried to convince us to pay for a bigger listing by showing me this bullshit pie chart reflecting where people get their information. They claimed over 65% of people go to the phone book first.

    Fuck that.
I literally don't remember the last time I used one.

Not for looking up businesses or numbers anyway.

Massive waste of paper. Dunno why they still print 'em and give 'em away for free.

I was working at my friends' in KS (small town) and needed something to prop something up, so I asked for a phonebook, thinking it would be 3" thick like it is here... but it was like, 5 pages. :nocheer:

Oh man, between the laptop and my iPhone I haven't used one in years. Actually I don't even bring them in the house anymore. They go right into the recycling bin.

I use my phone or the internet to get what I need. Only rarely does something not come up. I put those big yellow pages in the recycle bin.

you've gotta admit, selling adverts for yellow pages would blow.

At least print less and have them available (for free) at the grocery store or something... that way the old people who need them can have them, but everyone else doesn't automatically get em. Cause they just pile up in the basement or something anyway.

I wished I had one last week when my 3 y/o nephew needed a boost to reach the toilet. I had to use some of my good art books and I was scared he was gonna piss on them. He's not terribly good at aiming yet.

    He didn't though.

They used to dump them in the driveway but they ended up scattered all over town. Now they just leave them at the post office if anyone wants one they can come and get it. I've never seen anyone take them except maybe a bored old geezer or two.

My business caters to older people, so I still advertise in the book.

The plus side is, since so many advertisers are pulling ads, their rates have dropped drastically.

I'm paying about 60% less then I was 10 years ago.

Old people and culturally deprived places still use it. Where I currently reside, maybe 15% of the businesses, at best, have an internet presence.... mind bending....
