Leati Joseph "Joe" Anoaʻi (born May 25, 1985) is an American professional wrestler, former professional Canadian football player, and a member of the Anoaʻi family. He is signed to WWE, where he performs under the ring nameRoman Reigns on the Raw brand where he is the current United States Championin his first reign.
After playing collegiate football for Georgia Tech, Anoaʻi started his professional football career with brief off-season stints with the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL) in 2007. He then played a full season for the Canadian Football League's (CFL) Edmonton Eskimos in 2008 before his release and retirement from football.
Anoaʻi then pursued a career in professional wrestling and was signed by WWE in 2010, reporting to their developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). As Roman Reigns, he made his main roster debut in November 2012 alongside Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose as The Shield. The trio teamed together until June 2014, after which Reigns entered singles competition. Reigns is a three-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, a one-time WWE Tag Team Champion (with Rollins), the 2015 Royal Rumble winner and the 2014 Superstar of the Year. He also tied the WWE record for most eliminations in a Survivor Series elimination match with four in the 2013 event, and set the record for most eliminations in a Royal Rumble match with 12 in the 2014 event.
Reigns has headlined numerous WWE pay-per-views including WrestleManias 31 and 32, with WWE intending him to be their next "face of the company". However, Reigns' ascendancy as a world title-chasing heroic character has been marked by critics' disapproval and hostile crowd reactions.
Anoaʻi is half Samoan and half Italian. Both his father, Sika Anoaʻi, and his brother, Rosey, were professional wrestlers. As a member of the Anoaʻi family, he is a cousin to former professional wrestlers Yokozuna, Rikishi, Umaga, The Tonga Kid, and first cousin once-removed to The Usos, and The Rock (non-biological).
Anoaʻi married Galina Joelle Becker in early December 2014. He has a daughter, with whom he appeared in a public service announcement in June 2014.
At the Georgia Institute of Technology, Anoaʻi majored in management. He is a Catholicand uses the sign of the cross every time he enters in the ring.
Anoaʻi considers Bret Hart his wrestling idol.
He sucks, no charisma and the superman punch is the gayest finishing move since the hogan leg drop.
Here is where they fucked up:
-Breaking up The Shield in the first place
-That hand cocking shit when he is getting ready for the Superman Punch
-Letting him keep the Shield gear and music. He ain't The Shield
-How they've booked him (obvious). Needs to go full heel
-Needs a manager, like Heyman, don't is mic death
You forgot the spear.
I don't watch much anymore, but I gotta tell ya, I hate that finishers aren't finishers anymore.
I get the kick out if it's a huge match, but every fucking PPV match, someone kicks outta someone else's finisher.
They are boring as fuck too. No one can pull off a Jackhammer or Sling Shot Suplex or Iron Claw?
Psychology is the shits too. I'm fightin some flippy flopper I'm gonna spend all my time werkin one of his legs, so he can't flippy flop around the ring on me. Instead, they don't sell shit. Hit a finisher, guy kicks out and 4 seconds later he's on the top rope coming off at you with something.
I'm 3/4 back to just following the backstage goings on via dirt sheets and not tuning in. Their friggin 2 big champs, one looks like more of a scumbag slob than I do, and the other I'da been bigger than in 8th grade, if I did one cycle of juice.
I'll usually watch the big WWE ppv shows, and read up on the Raws/Not so big ppv's.
It's fucking high spot central, they try to make all the action "a thing". Like the fans gotta know what's coming so they can chant/cheer/do mark shit before the wrestlers hit it.
And Cena still wears jorts! Fucking jorts.
