They build all these cars, store them on these lots for a while, and then they crush them and chop them up and melt them down and build more cars. Next time these fuckers come for another bailout, remember these pics.

Problem is a 2-3 year old used car for 20k is far superior to a new car for 20k. New cars depreciate so quickly they're not worth buying.

This is U.K. People Don't drive as much as here. And they drive smaller cars that are more fuel efficient so that is going to take longer for them to hit that 100k~200k mark.

How come the price doesn't come down since supply far outweighs demand :dontknow:

Prices are kept artificially high, so you get unsold inventory. The supply/demand relationship only works when you assume that the supplier wants (or even needs) to sell his product.

Assuming any of these pic are true. My guess is that unsold cars eventually get sold to fleet purchasers or scraped for parts - in the latter case, they're probably worth more than a new car sale.

This is an EU problem. Here, factories get shut down. In Europe, there is nothing more difficult than closing a car factory.

A lot of people here in the UK just buy second hand cars as it's cheaper, timing belt it changed, other expensive parts replaced saving the buyer more money than they would if new.

    What a stupid article.

    Lets get some FACTS.

Interdesting that Most of the Pictures in the "article" are of about 1-2 Boat loads of Cars.

Does the author expect an Ocean freighter to sit around waiting for a manufacturer to produce enough cars to fill it?

    Not to mention..
    . and here
Summer closings pretty much hold true for rest of world Holds true for rest of world

    so a stockpile is needed

    Oh Noes...

Just because a manufacturer has "stock" does not mean things are bad.

Here is one of Utz warehouse:

Wouldn't it make sense instead of pumping out cars to sit unsold just make as many as they would hope to sell.
