Since Artie's been gone there seems to be less, not more of Fred. There seems to be less sound drops and virtually no discussion from him longer than a sentence or a courtesy laugh at one of Howie's lame comments. I think the last insight into his life was a H100 news report that he lost his temper in a parking lot. I get no bits (would require someone to work past 10AM), no Win Fred's Money (would require sponsor money since Howie has none to spare) but I don't get his diminished contributions, even the sound drops are repetitive now when they used to be so varied and creative. The only thing I can think of is that with the increase in commercials, product placements etc., he's too busy with that to follow the show as closely as he used to.

It's called Howard being lazy, uninterested and spiteful towards the head honchos at SiriusXM.
In other words, he's mailing it in.

And yet the wastes of oxygen that are Robin, Ronnie, and JD step in to fill the vacuum.

I guess Fred's just doing his best Howard impression -- doing the minimum required to get through the contract. (I love Fred and wish he would contribute more.)

Remember how Howard would always ask if Fred had any new written bits in his "bag"? That never happens anymore either....

You dont see The View (Howards latest model for THSS) with drops of fuck sounds and movie clips. Fred's job is 1 A-lister away from being replaced by a laugh track.

Exactly, segment after segment with JD, Ronnie, Benjy, Robin.... but Fred's nowhere to be found, not even a minor player in the staff "fights'.

Maybe Frightening Fred has the same teflon contract that Jon Hein scored? I dunno.

Fred sees what we see. Fred's riding out his contract and does only enough to get by.

Along with his ridiculously easy job, Fred has a loving family, classy Manhattan apartment (i'm pretty sure his building is where Dorothy Parker & Truman Capote lived), freedom to play in his crappy band & shitloads of cash in the bank. What a life!

Fred's the only one at HSS whose wealth is not flaunted. It amuses me how, the staffer who was goofed on, mercilessly, for being a white-trash hillbilly, now has the classiest home of them all. Good for Fred!

I knew someone who lived in Fred's building during the 90s & she used to boast about all of it's previous inhabitants. Maybe she was getting a bit carried away! One thing i know for sure -- the lobby is a beauty, all solid walnut & deco granite. Very daddy Warbucks

    Exactly.
Just like his band. They're not the best in the world, but it's a great hobby for him. And he knows that's all they're ever gonna be, and he's cool with it. Beats the fuck out of taking pics of a bimbo in the snow. Hey, that rhymes...
    Good for Fred!

In a way it does seem weird that they get to an uncensored arena and the bits stop altogether. In part I think it's due to Howard no longer being self-deprecating by calling himself a "genius" and wanting people to believe it's actually true. In the past, they could always blame lack of production time or censorship when stuff simply wasn't very good, beyond that they were comfortable laughing at their own work when it fell flat. Now Howard has a fear of putting out anything that would undercut this ridiculous image he desires, as well as the fact that he has dried up creatively.

I also agree with the above that Fred is following Howard's lead, just show up a couple times a week and wait for 10:00 to come. I supposed guaranteed contracts can turn anyone into a government-style worker.

Fred's main contribution these days is a Stuttering John impression to cue Howard into his next live read. Iiiiiiiiiiidentity guard eh eh eh. :rolleye:

Could be something to this too, Fred is the only one who hasn't had a story line or segment in the past two-three years. Even Hein had the whole removing Christian references from his kids cartoons bit, the bar mitzvah bit and all the crap about his eating habits and diabetes.

I agree too with Spazz that Fred sees some of what we see as far as the hypocrisy of the current show and doesn't want to further it.
